Bio
Brought together by a love of authentic 60's Jamaican Ska and an urge to push things forward, The Brothers Ignatius take their name from the nun Sister Ignatius who ran the Alpha Boys School in Kingston. This school provided a home, education and a sense of hope for boys with very little else. Many of the recording musicians came from this school thanks to the love, guidance and understanding of Sister "Iggy". The Brothers aim to capture the essential vibe of those early recordings and use these grooves to let loose. With members having played/recorded with artists such as NYJO (The National Youth Jazz Orchestra),Tom Jones, The Streets, Fatboy Slim, Bobby Shew, Amy Winehouse and Jamaican greats like Alton Ellis, Dave Barker and Winston Francis, The Brothers have a pedigree that speaks for itself.
