"Meet The Brown Sisters"

Meet The Brown Sisters

In the world of gospel, there are
many singing sisters. There is Erica and
my Tina, a.k.a. Mary Mary, The
Anointed Pace Sisters, and the reigning
divas of gospel, The Clark Sisters. I

am happy to include a newfound
group of female singing siblings from
the Windy City: The Brown Sisters. The

quintet has a new single called
"Awesome God."
In the name game, the Brown
Sisters are Vanessa, Phyllis, Lavette,

Adrienne and Andrea. "Our love of
music began with our father, Pastor
Ben Brown," said Vanessa Brown

Dukes, the oldest sister and manager
of the group. "He sold some of everything,"
she laughed. Thesisters' mom
Alberta is a retired schoolteacher,

Unfortunately, the Brown Sisters'
brother Zachary passed away at age

15. He had been with the group as a
musician. Then in 1998, the Brown
Sisters were hit with another terrible
blow. This time it was their mom
Alberta who became extremely ill.
Doctors diagnosed Alberta with a

OMPS & SHOU1

flesh-eating disease that seemed to
consume her body, According to
daughter Vanessa, the virus appeared
to be eating away at their mom's
body alive. "She had a virus that took

over her body," Vanessa said on the
Brown Sisters' MySpace page. The
attending doctors offered little hope
for Alberta. She lay in a coma for days.

But the God who healed Job in the
Bible is still the same God, and He's
the same healer today, don't you

know. Vanessa said that they all pulled
together on their faith much like a tug
of war, They stood united and steadfast,
telling the doctors not to pull the
plug on their mother, Joined by family

Bio

Introducing the gifted, beautiful and anointed vessels of God......

Hailing from the Gospel music mecca of the world, Chicago, Illinois, The Brown Sisters, who were trained by their father at the young and tender ages of 4, 5 and 6, have performed together for years, singing their sweet harmonies at various local churches, schools, businesses and community organizations. They have served as special guest artist for many Aldermen, Committeemen, Clerk of Circuit Court Judge campaigns, the NAACP, as well as the Cook County Jail ministries in their city.

The Brown Sisters have appeared at such auspicious occasions as:

• The House of Blues, Gospel Music Workshop of America, National COGIC Convention, Chicago Gospel Festival, Taste of Chicago, National Democratic Convention

• Television networks include: ABC-TV, CBS-TV, Fox-TV & WLS-TV, WGN-TV, BET-Bobby Jones Gospel, The Word Network, & other local cable stations

• The sisters did a series of European tours, which included various cities in Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, London, Sweden and Norway.

• They were awarded Best Gospel/Jazz Record of the Year in France.

The Sisters have performed and/or worked with such artists as the famed Walter Hawkins, Bobby McFerrin, Aretha Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Pop & Mavis Staples, Donald Lawrence, and Shirley Caesar, to name a few.
They were hired as permanent support vocalists for many artists from 1993 to 1999, for the nationally syndicated television show "Testify". The true essence of their music ministry cannot be fully grasped until you have partaken of the "live experience". The steadfast, unfailing love of God is demonstrated as they acquiesce themselves completely unto the Holy Spirit. It is the Brown Sisters' endeavor to perform well the task that God has set before them, for they realize that investing in God yields great dividends.

The Brown Sisters is the epitome of what virtuous Christian women should be. Not only do they sing for a living, but they also live what they sing about!
