"Song Premiere: The Bunks – “Another Letdown”"

We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of The Bunks’ new song “Another Letdown” (listen below), taken from the band’s forthcoming album Hit & Run.

The Bunks guitarist/vocalist Jozcel Fernandez talks about in-studio recording techniques: “Instead of recording the traditional way of ‘stacking’ individual tracks, we decided to cram ourselves into the live room of the studio and just hit record. Live-tracking is an intimidating process because there’s just no room for mistakes, but the nuances add a different energy – one that you can definitely feel on this new EP.”

New Jersey garage rock band The Bunks broke out into the local scene in early 2016 with the release of their debut EP Here Comes The Storm. After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback, they went back to the studio to live-track their second EP, Hit & Run.

The band will be celebrating the release of Hit & Run at The Saint in Asbury Park along with local bands Deaf Rhino, Littlebear, & Ernest. - New Noise Magazine

"Del Water Gap Headlines at The Stoop"

I can't believe it took me a whole year to check out Drexel's house show scene. Seriously, what was the wait for? But, I think I picked the right one, because The Stoop was hosting a show last weekend, and our favorites in Del Water Gap were headlining.

While St. Joe's is just getting started in hosting small basement shows, Drexel has already got it down. Also on the lineup for the night were Honey Tiger and The Bunks, two city bands that were unfamiliar to me, but felt like old friends by the end of the night. That's the thing about house shows. I love that the bands stick around and hang out with the crowd. Dylan and I easily made connections with the hosts and the artists. So just like that, we've already got a foot in another school's scene. That's what makes music so fucking awesome.

Honey Tiger, an eclectic duo who let off some Alt-J vibes, opened the night. They're worth checking out further, for sure. They're in the running to play at Firefly, and they've got a vote from us!

During The Bunks set, the crowd had started to gain speed as the band played lots of originals off of a newly released EP. These guys absolutely shred like there was nothing else in the world. They were a really fun group to watch. They've got a release show coming up on May 28th down at the Jersey Shore. Check it out if you're heading out that way... - Dylan Eddinger

"Exclusive Premiere: Bergenfield's The Bunks' First Single from Their Debut EP"

It's rock and roll premiere day here at CoolDad Music. Northern New Jersey blues rock power trio, The Bunks, will be releasing their debut EP for download this Friday, February 19th. Today they share the title track from Here Comes the Storm.

"Here Comes the Storm" is a dose of heavy blues that owes quite a bit to the sounds of Jack White or The Black Keys. The trio of Jozcel (guitar / vocals), Jon (bass / vocals), and Jonzi (drums) also channel some earlier practitioners like Led Zeppelin while keeping things squarely in the here and now.

The band will be celebrating the release of Here Comes the Storm this Sunday, February 21st, at Mexicali Live in Teaneck with help from The Vaughns, Flammable Animals, and Jimmy Meier. Doors for that one are at 6pm, and you'll be able to grab a free copy of the EP at the show. - Jim

"North Jersey Notes: The Bunks, Raftree, Rahway and More!"

I am loving these kids from Bergenfield, NJ! The name of the band is The Bunks and the one song that I heard on their Facebook page, facebook.com/thebunks, “Rolling Dolls,” is so lip-smacking good! These kids bleed the blues and are full of soul! Where the hell did they come from? I wanted to hear more, but that was all they posted. Great marketing tactic! The song “Rolling Dolls” had so much energy to it and was catchy as hell! I seriously listened to it five times in a row as I wrote this feature about them. The song is that good! It had a White Stripes feel to it, but by no means sounded like the White Stripes. These kids definitely have something here and based on this one song that I heard, they won’t be free agents for long!

According to their bio, The Bunks formed in the winter of 2014, but before the band was even a twinkle in anyone’s eye, the members of The Bunks were working their tails off cultivating their musicianship. Growing up in North Jersey, singer and guitarist Jozcel, singer and bassist Jon and drummer Jonezci all began studying music at a very young age. After years of playing with each together in various projects, the trio finally realized it was best to rejoin forces and settle down together. Jesus! It sounds like a marriage! They soon realized that no other musician blended as well together as they did and that they had something special. I couldn’t agree more!

The Bunks would craft their own sound “by drawing inspiration from the raw, blues roots of Led Zeppelin while maintaining modern sensibility from the music of today. Broken, distorted guitar tones reminiscent of Jack White mixed with heavy drums inspired by John Bonham combine to create the sound of The Bunks.” I have to admit, these guys have done their homework. They’re young and they’re extremely talented. The way I’m blowing them up, you would think I would know them, but I don’t. These kids are that good! Give them a listen now at facebook.com/TheBunks or catch them live tonight (6/24) at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ with McCalister, Dairy Farmers, Honor Among Thieves and Flammable Animals, or on Sunday, June 28, at Tenth Street Live in Kenilworth, NJ with The Vaughns, Flammable Animals, The Company Kept, The Kava Daphne, and Fiscal Cliff. - Tim Louie

Bio

The Bunks are a garage rock band that was formed in New Jersey in 2014. The group consists of twins Jozcel Fernandez (guitar, vocals), Jonzi Fernandez (drums), and life-long friend Jon Chang-Soon (bass guitar).

After bursting into the New Jersey music scene with the release of their first single "Rolling Dolls", the trio was quickly compared to acts such as The White Stripes and The Black Keys. After hearing their debut single, Tim Louie of The Aquarian was quick to write, “These kids bleed the blues and are full of soul! Where the hell did they come from?”

In February of 2016, The Bunks released their debut EP, "Here Comes The Stormand filled venues across New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia. About a year later, they returned to the studio to live-track their second EP, "Hit & Run". The 6-track EP features high-energy songs with catchy hooks and bluesy guitar licks. Strong influences from iconic rock groups such as AC/DC, Jet, and Green Day can be heard throughout the EP. With a release date of May 28th, The Bunks are currently booking shows to promote the new EP.
