The Buzzkill All-Stars

The Buzzkill All-Stars combine infectuous melodies with high energy and smart lyrics to create music that will get your blood racing, your feet tapping and your mind humming. Guitarist Scott Wolfson and drummer Dan Weiss mix their song writing chemistry with a splash of tasty keyboards from Travis Buono and a generous helping of hard driving bass from Vin Fiorillo to get a recipie for tunes with heat, heart and hooks.

Scott Wolfson has been performing and recording since he was 13 years old, and for the last 17 years in New York City. A graduate of NYU, he majored in musical performance and minored in music theory and composition. His songwriting strives to combine the wit and wisdom of Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, and Tom Waits with the pop sensibilites of Squeeze, XTC, and Crowded House. His unique voice and stylings add another dimension to the already strong musicianship of the band.

Contrary to myths and legends, Dan Weiss was not born with drum sticks in his hands, but his rhythmic kicking while in the womb was a sign of what was to come. Dan picked up his first pair of drumsticks 17 years ago, and has played a wide range of music, including rock, pop, blues and jazz. Citing influences from Keith Moon to Carter Beauford, Dan's drumming is creative and hard-hitting, and sets a solid foundation for The Buzzkill All-Stars to build on.

Vinnie Fiorillo has had an instrument in his hand since the age of 5. Vinnie's approach to playing bass is rooted in jazz, motown and blues, learning to play from the great jazz bassist Milt "The Judge" Hinton. His influences include James Jamerson, Oscar Petiford, Charlie Mingus, and Hinton. Vinnie has studied and jammed with jazz greats including Ed Shaunessy, Pat Labarbara, Buddy Baker and Milt Hinton. Besides being an accomplished bassist, Vinnie is also a classically trained cellist. Vinnie holds a bachelor of Music in cello performance from the University of Miami, and a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. After a fruitful 12 year career with his cello Vinnie decided to trade in his bow and pick up his bass to be the bottom presence of The Buzzkill All-Stars.

Travis Buono started playing classical piano at the tender young age of six. While at Dartmouth, he studied jazz piano and theory/composition, played in numerous jazz and funk groups and was a founding member of the a capella group the Dartmouth Cords. Travis draws upon his extensive experience to bring The Buzzkill All-Stars to another level through clever and high-energy lead lines.

The Buzzkill All-Stars blend their influences to create an original and eclectic sound. Be careful, once you invite The Buzzkill All-Stars into your head, they may never leave.
