The Canvasmen

The Canvasmen

BandRockFunk

Sort of sounds like the baby that might be born were the White Stripes somehow to fondle, sleep with, and impregnate the Talking Heads.

Biography

We are inspired by many things, but primarily by our love of rock and roll, bourbon whiskey and the desire to be somebody, just like Navin R. Johnson.

Atasha The Gorilla Girl

Written By: Mike Lukaszewicz

I've paid to make this spectacle a trick that works.
The crowd abates and forms.
The curtain opens wide and I am here to startle them.

I watch the stage lights circle round your body sequined top to bottom
I dream inside this costume.
You don't know the ways I dream

The tent come down, the canvasmen to work to fill the cars again.
A collar and a tie on me and my gate is only human.
I save a seat for you and watch you pass me like you do.
You hold the hands of bosses and you laugh when they say nothing.

So I keep head in cage, suffer big agonies, while you let stronger men, let them lift road show weights on the take.

We go through Kentucky, past Chicago to Milwaukee.
This show it must go on and I only want to leave it.
But I am working for Atasha.
I am working for Atasha.
I am working for Atasha and you are working me.

So I keep head in cage, suffer big agonies while you let stronger men, let them lift road show weights on the take.
Yes I keep head in cage, suffer big agonies while you let stronger men, let them lift road show weights on the take.

I've paid to make this spectacle a trick that works.
The crowd abates and forms.
The curtain opens wide.
And I am here to startle them.

Anchors and Sloganeers

Written By: Mike Lukaszewicz

I have got no way to know if the anchors know the truth.
And they have got the scandals passing by me on a loop.
And they will make the banter nice no matter what they've told.
And they will make the banter nice no matter what they've told.

All these pictures coming faster mean I can't catch up.
And all the beauties fuck the sloganeers and keep the stuff.
And they will not just settle for but fifteen of this fame.
They will not just settle for but fifteen of this fame.

And I have gotten dropped in all the talk of this just in...the talk of this just in.

I am buying gatsby green lights and crossword answers cheap.
But it eludes me know and I am borne back ceaselessly.
They will play the peak a boo until I cannot watch.
They will play the peak a boo until I cannot watch.

And I have gotten dropped in all the talk of this just in...the talk of this just in.

I have got no way to know if the anchors know the truth.
And they have got the scandals passing by me on a loop.
And they will make the banter nice no matter what they've told.
And they will make the banter nice no matter what they've told.

I have gotten dropped in all the talk of this just in...the talk of this just in.

Chasing Down Big Men

Written By: Mike Lukaszewicz

They go pulling back curtains, blinking in slow mo, leaving in due time.
They keep fighting the tin men, staying up later, standing up.
Still knocking down stansions, rocking the big yachts, filling up cradles, filling the right shoes.
They are spilling no secrets, having no secrets, remembering hard.

Some voices aren't cracking in front of the crowd.

They go blurting out questions, saving their answers, kicking up more dirt.
They keep digging their trenches, burning their witches, kissing their wives.
And they bleed just like they mean it, they cry like they feel it, they should like they like it, they shout like they hate it.
They bleed just like they mean it, cry like they feel it, shout like they like it.

Some voices aren't cracking in front of the crowd.

They go chasing down big men, beating the point spread, barking like porn stars.
They keep setting our styles and running for miles, taking candy from strangers, wagging their tails, shaking their fists, driving in fast cars, making out wish lists.
They're driving home points, they're driving home happy, they're driving home points, they're driving home happy.

Some voices aren't cracking in front of the crowd.

Some voices aren't cracking in front of the crowd.

Can't love them from too far away.
Can't love them from too far away.
Can't love them from too far away.
Can't love them from too far away.

Lady Liberty

Seems to be your drama makes everybody dizzy.
This the same malady as the one before.
There ain't no fever out in the streets and you're not still bleeding dear.
There ain't no fever out in the streets and you're not still bleeding dear.

Showcase your showgirl parts if you like.
Show them your racing pulse, but they're not looking back your way.

If you can't take a hint, don't take anything at all.
If you can't walk away, I've got someone I might call.
There ain't no fever out in the streets and you're not still bleeding dear.
There ain't no fever out in the streets and you're not still bleeding dear.

Showcase your showgirl parts if you like.

Felony Noon

Written By: Mike Lukaszewicz

Felony noon and the desert sun cast a straight shadow from his daddy's gun and the lone and level sands stretch far away.

This saguaro is a sheriff then to he who dreams like a t.v. bandit and the lone and level sands stretch far away.

No one around here could fix this or cares if no one around here can fix this or cares.

No one around here could fix this or cares if no one around here can fix this or cares.

He waves his flag around.
He waves his flag around and the moon is up early in the western sky.

He's got his shotgun ready.
He's got his shotgun ready and the moon is up early in the western sky.

No one around here could fix this or cares if no one around here can fix this or cares.

No one around here could fix this or cares if no one around here can fix this or cares.

It becomes a felony noon...

That man is plugging cacti full of his buckshot lately.
He best be careful where they fall.

That man he's plugging cacti full of his buckshot lately.
He best be careful where they fall.

No one around here could fix this or cares if no one around here can fix this or cares.

No one around here could fix this or cares if no one around here can fix this or cares.
