Biography

The Canyoneersmen are a ramshackle posse of Novocastrians centring around bandleader and songwriter Jay Sullivan.

The Canyoneersmen play a ragged and lilting brand of alternative-folk.
Unapologetically raw, the group’s sound is gritty, often pretty, but never polite.

Over the past year they have carved out a local reputation for being a creatively restless and unpredictable live band, with no one performance ever the same as the next. In the past, audiences have been served up impromptu beat poetry performances, improvisatory guitar experiments, and a revolving roster of guest musicians.

In 2011 the group has released two EPs, ‘Volume One’ and ‘Row You Bastards!’, both of which are available for free download.
