A mind-bogglin' mix of early Jamaican ska, reggae, soul n' calypso but with a fresh twist

Biography

The Capital Beat is a Finnish 8-piece machine of pulsating riddims combining elements of authentic ska, reggae and soul that evokes memories of old Jamaican music with a new and fresh twist. The band was formed in the summer of 2007 and by the midst of 2008 the band had performed at the most respected clubs and indie festivals in Finland and driven people (and their feet) to the brink of lunacy with their mind-boggling ska-show.

The bands unreleased material got played widely outside the Finnish borders, hitting the airwaves on collage radio in the US as well as trough smaller stations in Europe, Asia and Australia.

The much awaited debut album A Greater Fire was released on September 23rd 2009 and the album was chosen as the Album of the week on national Radio YleX in Finland! The hit single Salty Fish peaked on playlists on several radio stations in Finland (YleX, Radio X3M and Radio Helsinki to name but a few).

In the summer of 2010 The Capital Beat played on every major finnish festival and also had time to start the recording of the follow up for A Greater Fire. The first single Cry for Me from the yet untitled second album (due to be released in early spring 2011) was released on August 20th 2010 and immediately got nothing but positive response from the Finnish media.

The Capital Beat has opened up for greats like Mad Caddies, the Slackers, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Reel Big Fish and their good friends The Valkyrians and driven people to the brink of lunacy with their ska-show! Europe is NEXT line so be prepared, we're comin' to get ya!

So please join in, strap on your dancing shoes, hit the dance floor and FEEL THE REGGAE.
