"Flood Relief Festival"

One of the headline groups of this event are the veterens of the commercial music scene, The Carlton Show Band. Their show starts at 7:00p.m "and you better bring your dancing shoes" says bands guitarist Eddie Ingram."We're gonna come out swinging like we always have, this is for a great cause. We can relate to all the musicians who lost their instruments along with their ability to work because of the hurricane." "This season we've added something new to our show, we're doing a musical stroll down the streets of The Big Easy. It's a musical tribute to all of the flavors of the south side of New Orleans. We call it our "NAWLN"S SET". We're gonna take you down Bourbon Street with it's Dixie Land beat, down the back alleys of Toulouse Street, past the voodo shops and party taverns, and join in the Second Line procession back to Canal Street with the carnival atmosphere of Mardi Gras. We're inviting all in attendance to come along and high step with us."Let's help these good people in New Orleans get back on their feet." Many more acts will also appear, before the Carlton Show Band takes the stage. - Mobile Weekly Mover

Bio

The southern college scene of the 70's was a hot bed for R&B and soulful Motown sounds. The Carlton's Show Band took a different slant in their musical approach to that scene and focused on the rocking style of Chicago, the groove oriented Memphis sound, and the smooth pop influenced Carolina beach party music. This was a winning combination of genre for their shows, and to this day resounds with a variety of audiences.

The innovative horn charts have been an integral part of the Carlton's distinctive sound from the start. Powered by a driving rhythm section, the Carlton's celebrated horn section added the power and swing to push this act into a league of it's own. The Carlton's display a wide range of styles and moods from cool funk grooves to their infamous Carolina beach music style.
