“Dynamic duos have a long and storied history. A history so long and storied, in fact, that it would be redundant and cliché to list all of those famous duos here. Instead, consider the duo of Yes Alexander and Seth Syberg, the Casual Lust. The Lust plays folk rock and blues with a slight country hue, composed of Syberg’s sleepy and syncopated snare drum and Alexander’s vocals, which sound like Neko Case roughened by Hope Sandoval’s hollow detachment and the throaty anachronism of Frazey Ford of the Be Good Tanyas. Their self-titled EP (Litterbox) is the sort of haunting lo-fi endeavor that you might encounter by sheer luck in a smoky blues bar late at night, causing you to wonder out loud, "Who is this?" Dynamic, indeed.” - Jenny Miyasaki

"Weekly Pick"

“…The Casual Lust, an indie, alt-country collaboration from Portland. Comprised of Yes Alexander and Seth Syberg, the pair are kind of like the White Stripes, only on a very slow but steady red wine binger. Oh, and like the White Stripes, they are not together – the band encourages people to hit on them.
Based on the music, you can see why; they are bummed – majorly bummed – so, please, go give them a hug. With The Casual Lust, velvet vocals are contrasted with rough undertones. The combination will make that painful ex-relationship surface in your mind, to the point where you’ll be begging for someone to pass that bottle of wine.”

Bio

The Casual Lust is an indie folk rock collaboration based on the west coast. A heart throb trio that holds no conclusions with their eclectic sound. Velvet vocals contrasted with rough undertones that string you along with no intentions of letting go. They carry you to emotional revelations through lyrics that are the root of all relations. A lustful endeavor that no one should miss.

Founded in San Francisco, CA July 2005, The Casual Lust has played numerous venues throughout the Bay Area and beyond. In December of 2005 they embarked on a three week tour of California, Oregon, and Washington with local favorite Brown Recluse (Litterbox Records). In November 2005, The Lust went into the studio with Brian Tester of Triangle and recorded a 7 Song Demo/EP released by Litterbox Records.

In May 2006, The Lust concluded an extremely successful 5 week tour of the western United States. In June, they packed up their bags and moved to Portland, Oregon and entered the studio with sound engineer Nicholas Taplin (Arrington de Dionyso, Gross Gang) to record a new 6 song demo/ep entitled, So Be It, released in October of 2006 on Litterbox Records. A 5 week cross country tour concluded in December '06. They went on a one year hiatus soon after to pursue other projects.

The Lust has come out of hibernation and is currently booking a tour that will kick off in San Francisco on April 30th. After tour, the lust plans on entering the studio to cut their third and most ambitious album yet.
