"I Love the Catillacs!"

The Catillacs are a great party band- they've got a fun, rockabilly vibe... yet it doesn't just stop there. They are rounded out by thoughtful lyrics and tasteful musical arrangements too. They're also one of the most professional and courteous bands out there. I love the Catillacs! ---Lisa Mann

"Outstanding Old School Voodoo Blues CD"

Portland, Oregon trio The Catillacs have come with their claws out on their excellent debut album, “Meow Mix.” Guitarist Richie Bean, drummer Susan Costa, and bassist George Burton performed on and produced the entire album, skillfully jumping between and combining Americana, rock, alt-country, blues, honky tonk, and surf rock genres. The entire album features nice musical layering, excellently crafted guitar solos from Bean, and great toe-tapping beats from Costa. The vocals are consistent with the genres and reminiscent of classic artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Young, and Canned Heat, adding a certain timelessness to their sound. The lyrics vary as well, from dark lyrics about death and exacting revenge to sappy love ballads to just plain fun upbeat songs about living. The Catillacs self-produced “Meow Mix,” and it sounds excellent and professionally done. “Boogaloo” is a great introductory track with a fun upbeat voodoo blues sound, a great hook, and superb guitar work. “True Love Figurine” is a Chicago blues track with a New Orleans flavor that features great storytelling lyrics and a great blues arrangement. With their dynamic musical arrangements and timeless sound, the cats and Catillacs alike will be happy to know that “Meow Mix” has delivered. Fans of Americana, blues, and classic rock should certainly pick up The Catillacs' debut. - Ross & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team

Hi, we’re the Catillacs. We’re an independent Americana band based in the tiny town of La Center Washington, and we just released our debut album “Meow Mix” on August 29th of this year. The band is a trio consisting of me, Richie Bean, (pretty well known as the lead guitarist and singer for the Portland blues bands Hudson Rocket and King Juju & The Beats, both have had airplay on blues themed Portland radio programs), drummer Susan Costa, (comes from a punk background, played with Portland bands Beyond Veronica, Harvey Girls and Serpentone), and bassist George Burton, who at 25 has already played with Portland heavies Jim Mesi, Steve Bradley, Jake Blair and a host of others.

We came together in the spring of 2007 with the intent of forming a rockabilly band, but soon realized that we were limiting ourselves trying to stick to one genre. “Meow Mix” is a collection of ten original songs and two covers. As the title suggests, it is a mixed bag including blues, country, folk-rock, rockabilly and ballads. The sound of the band has been described by various people as sounding like Neil Young (Love Bank), Chris Issak, (Deep Blue Sea), The Rolling Stones, (Queen of Denial), and even Garth Brooks! (Ain’t No Middle Ground). From the heartfelt country ballad “In the Fall” to the angry punk-blues cover of Robert Johnsons’ “Me and the Devil Blues” to the Halloweenish voodoobilly novelty “Hoodoo Laveaux”, we feel that there is something for anyone who’s a fan of electric American roots music on this record.
