Bio
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cedricke Dennis’ childhood was filled with music. Though neither of his parents were musicians, the Dennis’ stereo could always be found playing a wide variety of music. However, gospel and blues were found to be playing most often.
While attending school, Cedricke played the violin, clarinet and french horn before settling on guitar. He was particularly attracted to it’s earthiness and ease of playing. Before long, he was playing on Sunday morning and afternoon at church.
Having considered the San Francisco Bay Area home, he began playing in many of the local restaurants and clubs. It wasn’t uncommon to hear him playing an afternoon jazz brunch followed by an R&B gig late that night. This, in part, was because of his love for many different styles of music as we as his love for various composers.
He has recorded with numerous bay area groups(Narada Michael Walden, Tevin Campbell, Zoe and Dave Ellis, The Braxton Brothers, Ledisi and Anibade, Ricardo Scales) as well as many east coast bands(Teodross Avery, Rueben Wilson). He has shared the stage with Keb Mo, Teena Marie, Chaka Khan, Evelyn Champagne King, The Pointer Sisters, Thelma Houston, BWB, Angie Stone and many others. His live performances with these and other artist have taken him all over the world(Switzerland, England, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, LA).
In this site are some photos, and songlist information. But the most important item is the music. There are clips with excerpts from a live studio performance. These songs are most important because they most accurately “describe” the band. They capture the energy, sophistication, and music prowess that the group brings to the stage. By the way, there were no retakes or overdubs here.
Cedricke always seems to be searching for new ways to express his highly captivating and emotionally riveting music. It’s always front and center in his evolution as a musician. As the quest continues for this “new expression”, his fans will be in for a real treat.
