The Ceramics Effect on The FreQ Listeners
The Ceramics have been creating a name for themselves on campus, in the Durham Region, and the Toronto scene. With as much talent as they offer it is hard not to play their songs on our station. The DJs have been spinning their demo and the listeners are requesting their songs. This shows that they are getting noticed and being well received by music enjoyers.
When the band first formed with two members you could tell that they had talent to do big things, but did not sound fully complete. With the addition of a bass player and drummer now their music has an ear exciting flavour that full-fills their sound.
Their songs are very positive and up-lifting no matter what mood you are in. “Stay” and “Fall out of line” are very easy to put into your CD player and hit the repeat button. I dare you to take a listen and not hit that button!

DURHAM’S FINEST: THE CERAMICS

The Ceramics are an up-and-coming independent band from the Durham region. 'Who are the Ceramics?' you may be asking yourself. Well, you won't be asking yourself that question for much longer.
Mike Warne and Sara Giguere, both Music Business Management students at Durham College, are the founding members of the Ceramics. Those familiar with the Durham independent music scene may remember these two as the duo Mike and Sara. The duo began performing together informally back in September 2004 –playing cover songs together at various events on campus. After time, Mike and Sara began to refine their sound and began writing original material. It was then that the duo began to perform at numerous clubs and bars across the greater Toronto area.
As Mike and Sara continued to evolve, they realized that there was something missing from their sound. The duo wanted to evolve from an acoustic act to an electric act. "I missed rocking out," Warne said in a recent interview. With the addition new members Jeff Radich (bass) and Travis Thoms (drums), Mike and Sara have evolved to The Ceramics.
Still evolving, the Ceramics have continued to make strides in discovering their sound. It will only be a matter of time before the Ceramics will hit their groove.

Radio freindly pop rock with an indie sound and feel is the best way to describe The Ceramics, an independent band from Markham ON, Canada. With Lead vocals being shared by Mike and Sara, The Ceramics achieve a unique blend of the male and female vocal ranges, while staying true to their rock roots. The groups melodies are mainly vocal driven, while their instrumentals are used to compliment the duo vocalists by creating twists and turns in the dynamics of each song.
The Ceramics were formed in summer 2006, when core members Mike Warne and Sara Giguere decided to make the jump from being an acoustic duo to a full band format. So far The Ceramics have been busy experimenting with their sound and auditioning new band memebers. They have played countless bars and clubs across the greater Toronto and Durham areas.
As of right now The Ceramics are hard at work recording their first 6 song EP, which will be released in the summer of 2007.
