Bio
The Chapters were formed by former guitarist/singer-songwriter Rick Gonzalez of Austin-based We Talked About Murder in early June of 2003. With the addition of bassist Jeff Severson of The Golden Rule and drummer Mark Rodriguez, the trio began constructing songs of direction different than any of their projects prior. The fusion of sounds, which ultimately would be known as the Chapters, combined new wave, punk, post-rock and indie rock in a whole new format.
Quickly accumulating songs, the trio began to seek a fourth member to complete the ambitious and driving ensemble. Through the assistance of mutual friend Bill Wright, Nakia Reynoso soon joined the band on keyboards. Together the quartet completed the melodic 4 song EP Between Love and Death in the scorching heat of August 2003.
Although the project seemed to be accumulating resistance-free momentum, another setback lay ahead with the sudden departure of Nakia Reynoso. It would be another few months before the unit would find a replacement and be able to play live venues.
Now with keyboardist Bobby Cheetham, the quartet has performed in roughly a dozen of Austin's live venues. The Chapters currently continue to write and perform music throughout Texas.
