Bio

Cindy Mooney and Shannon Alley met over 15 years ago at a talent audition for the Truckee Alliance for Musical Arts, (TAMA) in Truckee, CA. They were both selected to participate in a TAMA show and went on to perform in many TAMA shows over the years. TAMA built quite a reputation in the Tahoe/Truckee area and opened for musician's like, John Mayall and Leon Russell. Through TAMA Cindy and Shannon became fast friends and started playing as an acoustic duo in and around the Tahoe/Truckee Area. After several years of an attempt at real life, real jobs, babies and the like, the duo reunited to take another crack at their first love, music and gigging, and joined by musicians and friends Sara Maitri and Karen McIntyre formed "The Chick P's."
The Chick P's are a tight group of friends and now a tight, rock'n' band that bring their inimitable vocal style, humor, and special brand of rock, pop, folk and blues to the stage.
The Chick P’s are inspired by a very eclectic group of artists and bands such as Sam Cook, Johnny Cash, Incubus, Cake, Brandie Carlile, Dolly Parton, and Led Zeppelin. Their original tunes take blues styles like Susan Tedeschi ; vintage sounds like Clapton and Cash and combine them with the lyrical poetry of songwriters like Patty Griffin. The Chick P’s have taken their best music memories and influences, and made something all their own.
Because the Chick P’s are so in love with their influences, they also enjoy playing cover tunes by those artists and as it turns out, the crowds love it too. The Chick P’s add their own flavor to covers and knock out the crowd with their strong vocal leads and harmonies.
