Bio
Blending their influences of rock, blues, funk, and old-fashioned jamming, The Chinstraps founded their sound in 2009. The band is fronted - and backed - by vocalist/drummer Rob Mohr of Bergenfield, NJ. On guitar, Eddie McElroy and Brian O'Connor trade riffs, chords, and soundscapes that bring the band's energy to the foreground. Bassist Ian Mathews provides the low end and strong vocals as well. The band came together through chance meetings, old friendships and now defunct musical projects. Rob and Brian were part of an acoustical trio called B-Ri and the B-rips and Eddie (aka Big Guy) was working with the band Broke Dog. Ian, an accomplished beatmaker and solo artist, decided to put all that aside and join the Chin to form a monster rhythm section and complete the quartet. the ChinStraps were born. With our mix of youth and experience, we aim to create not only a sound/style born of improvisation, but a complete catalog of radio friendly/ jam-worthy songs leaving the spectators/listeners mesmerized.
