Biography

The Cloudkickers are Elyse Buckley and Mike Morina. They come from a variety of influences including The Beach Boys, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and The Clash. They bring a mix of bluegrass, punk and folk to the stage. They are both multi-instrumentalists and known for their great vocal harmonies.

Mike Morina previously toured the country playing bass with his band Southcott. Elyse Buckley was a solo artist playing acoustic gigs in NYC, Rockland County and Jersey. They met at a bar during a meet-up for local artists who wanted to perform for the bar's new "acoustic nights." They weren't both there for the meet-up, but that's a different story...

Lyrics

Somewhere Else

Written By: Elyse Buckley and Mike Morina

I think of other people that I've met along the way/And all the times that I was made to feel small 'cuz of things they'd say/What a waste/I kept thinking it would get better but nothing changed/All the time I spent trying to be great to them/All the quiet pain that came and took up so much space/What a waste/And even though it hurt me, I'd do it all again/The pain led me somewhere else instead/Cuz now I know, all the things I went through/Were all meant to be, on the road that led me to you/All the memories in my head were replaced by the sweet words that you said/All the sweet words that you said

Highway Maps and Cadillacs

Written By: Elyse Buckley and Mike Morina

These streets are depressing me/I don't wanna spend another night in this city/You and me, we've got a long way to go/I want you next to me when we get on that road/So take me home, take me back where I belong/Another whiskey can only make a fool out of me/When are we getting out of here/I don't wanna watch you drink another two or three beers/It's getting late, half the town's half asleep/Know I could leave if I'm not something that you'd keep/So take me home, take me back where I belong/Another whiskey can only make a fool out of me/Take me home, take me back where I belong/Highway maps and Cadillacs, gettin' out going, 'whoa-oh-oh'

Fire at the Dancehall!

Written By: Elyse Buckley and Mike Morina

When I'm up, you're there to bring me down/Take my words and turn them around/Now you won't hear nothin', nothin' at all/You'll just see me walkin' out that door/It might not be what you wanted/Might be too blind to see/It might not be what you wanted/Wanted for me/Tell me wait, are you doing what you should/I don't know, but it feels damn good/I can't wait for the next train outta this town/It's now or never, let's do it right now/It might not be what you wanted/Might be too blind to see/Might not be what you wanted, wanted for me
