Bio

In 2008 with a love of psychedelia, garage rock and fuzzed out country, “The Coalminers Sect” took a fascination with Americana and heartland coalmining culture and formed a unique sounding combination. Featuring ex-members of hard rocking outfits Three Orange Whips and The Volcanics, they feature vintage guitar sounds at times layered with lap steel and keyboards.
The Coalminers Sect have had comparisons with Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr, Husker Du and The Replacements.
The band members are split between the west aussie capital Perth and the regional city of Bunbury. So with regular 200km trips up and down the highway for shows and rehearsals, you better have a decent stereo in the van!
But the tyranny of distance is no problem for these dedicated tyros. After success on the pub scene in Perth and the South West, the group unleashed their debut album "Lead Us To The Ocean" in late 2010. Recorded at Bonehouse Studios, the LP features ten tracks of cool driving rock n roll sure to please the ear. Some songs are two minutes of raw power; others roll along like a dusty valley trail.
Coming soon to a venue near you, The Coalminers Sect put on a rip-roaring stage show that is a must see for live music fans.
