The best kept secret in music

"A powerful indie-pop gem." - Kevin Kelly, - The Herald
The first release from St. John's natives Coast Guard runs like a smooth mix between Rilo Kiley, Metric, and a good helping of their own flavor - so basically, all compliments and no complaints here. As an EP, it totals about 20 minutes of music, but it's 20 minutes of damn good music. The drumming is thick and beautifully layered, the guitars are
magical, and singer Rhiannon's cute as shit vocals are all too pleasant on the ears. The album's only real setback: it is over just too
soon.
- CURRENT
The Coast Guard is a fitting name for a band originally from Newfoundland; those boats are a fixture in small towns on the island. The lead singer has a really pretty voice, but it's not weak or wispy at all. I quite like this song.

Bio
Coast Guard started in St. John’s as the co-stars, changed line-ups over time and relocated to Toronto in 2005.
The band’s debut EP was recorded in a home studio by Ryan Gassi (Memory Bank) and mixed by Jose Miguel Contreras (By Divine Right, Meligrove Band). Each of the 5 original songs reveal a new take on classic pop songwriting and deliver it in a bundle of thundering drums, layered guitars and soaring vocals creating a style reminiscent of Yo La Tengo, Guided By Voices, The Breeders and The Who.
Throughout the various incarnations of Coast Guard, they’veplayed NxNE and the Halifax Pop Explosion twice eachand shared the stage with great bands like By Divine Right, Wintersleep, Meligrove Band, The Constantines, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Rock Plaza Central and Matt Mays & El Torpedo.
