During their sophomore year Jeff and Charles (formerly of Tanuki, The Surf Lords, Amplab) shared a gym class together at Cibola High School. Both friends were aware of each other’s early music projects but they never had a chance to work together. That is, until much later. In August of 2012 Charles received a reply to a musician’s wanted ad he had posted and the kernel of The Cobra Effect was formed. The goal was simple, to produce heartfelt, original music with influences from grunge, rock, country and swing. After some shuffling of personnel, the band’s lineup was solidified with inclusion of two old hands in the Albuquerque music scene, Rhian (formerly of Oktober People) and Rob (formerly of Batwings for Lab Rats and Holiday Sail). Since the inception of the group, The Cobra Effect has worked tirelessly to play with the best bands in the most rockin’ venues around Albuquerque. The band will be releasing a full length recording during the Fall of 2013.
