The Colony

The Colony

The Colony is an entity born out of friendship and a common love for music and creation. Tired of the typical bar scene, four musicians decided to influence and become part of it, on the stage. Trapped in basements of Long Island, New York, the band writes songs and perfects their craft. The members Mike Romano (vocals, guitar), Mike Panico (guitar), Alex Shifrin (bass), and Michael James Fagioli (drums) are all on the cusp of obtaining their college degrees while injecting the indie rock scene with their music. Inspired by a wide collection of influences ranging from The Doors to Sting, Ella Fitzgerald to A Tribe Called Quest, and everything in between, The Colony creates music non-derivative of any single artist, or genre. Being classically trained musicians allows them to construct complex, melodic songs and the subjects explored are presented through clever, vivid lyrics. The Colony is fresh, yet familiar, and is a band with depth that will still rock the stage. The summer of 2006 brought the studio recording of the bands self-produced debut Ep. The self-titled five track album represents the Colony's first recorded material, capturing their truly unique sound.
