Bio
The Comedowns are a New Zealand alternative rock band composed of Jason Mohi (Lead Guitar/Vox), Todd Mohi (Ableton Live/Keyboards/Vox) and Luke Vankan (Drums).
Currently based in Auckland, the two Kiwi brothers from Napier started the band while overseas in Vancouver, Canada in 2004. There they toured consistently, playing shows at all major venues in Vancouver. The Comedowns were featured as the headlining band at Vancouver radio station CFOX 99.3’s Indie Night in Canada, and their single Falling Down gained radio play on CFOX and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio. The Comedowns toured Canada and the United States in 2005 and 2006.
They relocated to New Zealand in 2007, and hit the ground running with creative new material. Their ‘For Your Pain’ EP was recorded at Neil Finn's Roundhead Studios in Auckland, in May 2008 with Neil Baldock. Their singles Dissolve and Decontrol received extensive radio play on New Zealand’s The Rock FM, and various stations worldwide.
In addition to regular shows at popular venues across New Zealand, The Comedowns have toured New Zealand each year since 2007. They have also played shows with platinum selling artist Dane Rumble, Juno nominated band Marianas Trench and other major label bands.
In 2009, Jason Mohi performed at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards and Dissolve was selected for the Red Bull/42 Below 2010 soundtrack. They signed a publishing deal with Australian company Centrifuge and have begun working with The Music Agency, one of the biggest booking agents in New Zealand.
Most recently, The Comedowns have finished recording their upcoming album at Roundhead Studios, with mixing at The Kitchen Studio. They are planning for the release of this album in late 2010, and look forward to extensive touring through the end of 2010 and into 2011.
