The Commas (Self Titled) LP 2007 Coaster Soul Records

Opportunity single 2007 Coaster Soul Records

Feeling a bit camera shy

The Commas are in thier own little world.....They kind of look the part...sorta sound the part....but have no idea what the 'part' is.

With publishing support from Mushroom Music, distributed nationally and with MGM, and released by Coaster Soul Records, the self titled album The Commas is set to melt airwaves and iPods everywhere.

Born of a dazzling chemistry between singer-songwriter, Pearly, and co-writer and producer Countbounce (TZU), The Commas’ ground breaking debut album flexes rough 60’s soul, flavoured with moments of trip hop and psychedelic rock. Phillip Norman (guitar) Pip Atherston-Reid (drums), Simon Gorman aka Soul Mirage (keys and vocals) and Topher Morrey (bass and vocals) weave a seamless tapestry of electric gold that Pearly’s sublime lead vocals just rip over.

From the opening track and first single from the album Opportunity we hear the simplicity of a lonely guitar accompanied by a weary but angelic voice. No more than a comma later, we hear that trademark Countbounce warm, drunk and crunchy drum sound that immediately lets us know, that this is not just another Roots, Soul or Rock record. It’s a magical mystery tour through life, love, loneliness and redemption.

There are moments of Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Jamie Lidell and sometimes even Radiohead within the walls of this music.

With an up and coming national tour The Commas live show is not to be missed. Their songs stretch and arch to fit the feel and emotion of each night, the band swinging and tightening to seat Pearlys unbreakable voice. Their sweet and soulful vocal harmonies cushion the blows to your heart as it bursts with the music.

Some things just take a little time. But the wait is nearly over
