The Complaints Department

The Complaints Department

BandAlternativePunk

Pop-punk with keyboards and two vocalists. Loud, but melodic. Two Japanese and three Canadians in Tokyo.

Biography

The Complaints Department came together in February 2009, and is a Tokyo band. TCD is currently made up of Canadian/ Japanese nationals. Each member comes from a range of musical interests and influences, which produces a unique style of alternative music. The band concentrates on having two vocalists to produce a stronger sound. In the first half of 2009 the band made a great deal of progress in the studio and improving the sound with each performance. Keeping members proved to be difficult as the band was seeking a new guitarist after only 6 months. After a break in the summer and a new guitarist the band was moving ahead again. In the fall of 2009 the band split up. However, by the end of 2009 plans were made to form a new band in 2010. Since then, TCD struggled to find a permanent bassist but has added depth to the sound with keyboards and a unique sound with dual vocals.

Lyrics

Trapped In

Written By: Nate Gildart

One night changed life, washed away the two divides
We chose this road ?Eheld hands and hitched a ride
Betrayed they’ll say “There’s no way to apologize?E
We’re right, their fight ?Edon’t wanna pick a side

Chase an embrace, grow into a disgrace
Same, same, clich?E?Etired of keeping face
Footprint imprint, never told us what it meant
Mislead conflict - don’t wanna represent

Together but in between lines
Where every moment is faster than time

Reminisce ?Ethey day that we met
Already on the edge ?Eit’s so tragic
Not our fault, it’s not their fault - they don’t know
They built the walls that keep us all trapped in

Living lonely even as we share the pain
They’ll say shame, shame ?Eforgot the family
Seek to think, think ?EAre we being selfish kids?
Changing colours ?Ejust like chameleons

So poetic, heroic, a waltz
So pathetic, so coloured, and false

Reminisce ?Ethey day that we met
Already on the edge ?Eit’s so tragic
Not our fault, it’s not their fault - they don’t know
They built the walls that keep us all trapped in

They keep us all trapped in
They keep us all trapped in

Reminisce ?Ethey day that we met
Already on the edge ?Eit’s so tragic
Not our fault, it’s not their fault - they don’t know
They built the walls that keep us all trapped in

We’re no heroes we never cared for anything
Just the two of us and a simple day
Night after night always something there to hide
One last kiss until we’re on the other side

Story of the Year

Written By: Nate Gildart

Sitting in class and she’s staring back, my head plays tricks on me
Is this a dream, I must asleep, cause this could never be
I always try too hard
I’m always on my guard
My fragile ego scarred

Did planets align, or planets collide? Too scared to look outside
I’m losing control, she’s on a roll, it’s time to say goodbye
It’s like an earthquake hit
Trapped under all of this
Eventually I quit, has Hell frozen over?

I ~ I’m still by your side
This has to be the story of the year
The odds defied, we’ve been lost in time
It has to be the story of the year

No way to deny the shock to my mind, there’s no avoiding you
I choke up the words, the ones that you heard, I’ve said stupid things to you
I can’t use simple words
When I am close to her
I never get the girl, I’m no Casanova

I ~ I’m still by your side
This has to be the story of the year
The odds defied, we’ve been lost in time
It has to be the story of the year

I always try too hard
I’m always on my guard
My fragile ego scarred, am I going crazy?

I ~ I’m still by your side
This has to be the story of the year
The odds defied, we’ve been lost in time
It has to be the story of the year

Antique Radio

Written By: Nate Gildart

What pulls you through a tragedy, and changes destiny?
What can break a desperate choice when you don’t care?

It was never a face you knew, an image on the news
The romance in the eulogy but now it’s you

It saved my life, the antique radio
There are so many nights that I thank God ‘cause now I know
All of the sad songs were written just for me
Cause I’m not alone (the antique radio)

You finally send an S.O.S., it doesn’t make a sound
You’re waiting for an answer, no one’s around

It saved my life, the antique radio
There are so many nights that I thank God ‘cause now I know
Listening to the sad songs, the lyrics haunting me
But gave me hope (the antique radio)

It saved my life, the antique radio
There are so many nights that I thank God ‘cause now I know
All of the sad songs were written just for me
Cause I’m not alone (the antique radio)

It saved my life, the antique radio
There are so many nights that I thank God ‘cause now I know
Listening to the sad songs, the lyrics haunting me
But gave me hope (the antique radio)
