"With a badass horn section, a slippery rhythm clique and the kind of deep, soulful grooves that make us melt like butter on a hot piece of corn, we're looking forward to crankin' the Coolin' System all summer long." - Nashville Scene 5/09
“the Coolin' System's breezy, instrumental funk has us jonesin' for sunshine, sandy beaches and maybe a car-chase montage starring us in a ’72 El Dorado with some buxom blondes in the backseat and a bumbling cop hanging on to the bumper.” - Nashville Scene 1/10
“One of this city's most overlooked musical treasures,” - Nashville Scene 2/10
"The Coolin' System might just be one of our favorite new bands in the whole city. Their tight, instrumental funk workouts were so good... it's pretty obvious that this band thinks solely about the tunes. The System were tight, rocking a groove that recalled the brighter, bouncier vibes of Chicago's late-'60s pop-jazz scene that allowed the band's top-notch musicians to shine on their solos without ever distracting from the songs" - Nashville Scene 11/09

Bio
Born out of the love for an often under-appreciated musical genre, the Coolin' System purifies the soul with steady grooves, hip horn lines, and expressive solos. Rising out of the post-bop of the sixties, soul-jazz is a style of music that infuses the structure of jazz with the rhythm of R&B. With an emphasis on tone and deep roots, seven dynamic Nashville musicians have come together to explore the limits of funk, jazz, and boogaloo. Since 2008 the Coolin' System have been setting the bar high for a funky good time.
