"E.P. Review #2"

"The Coonics are a new rock quartet from Tuam. On 'Skinny Jeans' they make an indie noise that nods firmly towards the mainstream. 'Street Angel' has a sturdy rhythm track, some sharp guitar and decent vocals from Darragh O'Dea. 'Hardest Man in Town' is more restrained, with a nicely distorted guitar and more great vocals from a man brave enough to sing in his own accent. Yippee!"

"E.P. Review"

A really enjoyable debut EP from the up-and-coming Tuam quartet. The guitar-pop opener 'Skinny Jeans' - where the band cast an ironic eye over the pretentious indie-rockers - is worthy of any radio station's playlist. But the closing 'Didn't Make the Grade' is the one that really sticks out. - Hotpress

"Hot new Irish band The Coonics debut .EP"

Four piece band from Tuam/Galway/Ireland have released their Debut EP with five tracks for the listeners pleasure! The Coonics have a raw indie/ska feel to their sound, the lead singer has a unique sound to his voice, he has a strong Galwegian accent while singing each song, I've heard this done before but i like the way The Coonics make it sound... Babyshambles meet Arctic Monkey's from Galway maybe? This is a cracking new band to emerge from Galway and their debut EP has got some cheeky lyrical styled tunes! "Skinny Jeans" upbeat and fresh with catchy lyrics this song is full of commercial potential. "Street Angel" indie flavored pop tune, this has a clever chorus and will have you singing it in your head. "Hardest Man In Town" this song is more relaxed with some cool dynamics in the sound almost sounds like the early Stunning.. "Flies" melodramatic pop streaming from this tune, it has a great story line with cracking vocals and guitar riffs. "Didn't Make The Grade" punk styled vocals carries this song and frasing with every beat, not the best of tunes I would have left this one out as the song title say's.

The Coonics, whose music has been described as “devotional, inspirational and a small biteen naughty”, are a four-piece Indie band from Tuam. Since their first gigs in August 2008 the band have established themselves as one of the brightest up and coming bands in the country.

Their song Skinny Jeans, has received extensive national airplay and Ian Dempsey labelled them his "favourite up and coming band".
This year alone saw them play support to The Sawdoctors on two UK Tours and share the stage with The Republic of Loose, Mundy, The Flaws, Hayseed Dixie and The Chakras.

The Coonics have just made their debut release a 5-track E.P. which has been met with glowing reviews and was chosen by Jackie Hayden as his Pick of The Fortnight in Hotpress.
