"The Co-Op is here!"

What up, Party People! If you're looking for something different to come outta D.C. on the music tip, look no further than Dee Daye, Decon, and Frankie D., The Co-Op! The three cats representing the "DMV" have a sound and style unlike anything to ever come outta the Nation's Capital! They've been around for a while, but are finally starting to capture attention with their song, "Girl"!

Washington, DC is known just as much for being the birthplace of go-go music, as it is for politics high crime rate, and well-known names, such as former mayor Marion Barry, and drug kingpin Rayful Edmond. But The Co-Op is a departure from all of that.

The Co-Op's sound is classified as "Grown and Sexxy hiphop", with lyrics that can appeal to a myriad of demographics, as well as a sound not necessarily synonomous with go-go music, the rhythmic percussion-driven sound made famous by "the Godfather of Go-Go", Chuck Brown.

The Co-Op's music takes you back almost to an era of hiphop's origins, when hiphop was meant to be "feel-good" music!

The Co-Op has performed at various venues in the DMV, as well as outside of the Washington, DC-metropolitan area.

Keep your ears open and be on the lookout for this group. They're making MAJOR noise these days! You can checkout their video for "Girl" right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJqlDFHbM6I - http://dmvmusicscene.blogspot.com/

Bio

The Co-Op! This 3-man crew, representing the DMV, is doing big things on the music scene, both locally and nationally, with a sound like nothing you’ve ever heard to come outta "The Cap"!

Back in 2003, DC-born R&B singer Del, a.k.a. Frankie D found that the market for R&B music was almost non-existent, with hip-hop almost completely taking over the airwaves. In a quest to find a sound that would bridge the gap between traditional R&B and hip-hop, he enlisted the help of his cousin, NYC-born producer/ rapper D-Daye, to begin making tracks for his demo CD. One day while in the studio, the cousins were taking a break from studio work when they were visited by another producer/ MC, known in east-coast hip-hop circles as DeCon (pronounced dee-con), also a New York native, and a close friend of Frankie D. An off-the-cuff freestyle session in the studio that day by the 3 friends turned out to be the beginning of the group known as The Co-Op.

They’re music has been played at the area's hottest clubs, by some of the DMV's hottest DJ’s! The Co-Op was featured on the Mambo Sauce Vol. 2 mixtape, hosted by WPGC’s own, DJ Heat, as well as the SHINE Mixtape Series Vols. 2 and 3, by DJ Furious Styles of XM Radio. They’ve shared the stage with many national recording artists including Lil’ Jon, Lil’ Scrappy, Young Buck, and Dipset.

The group is currently promoting their hot A & B side hits, “Girl”, and the DMV anthem, "D dot, C dot".
