Bio

The Cormiers are a family group whose musical roots are firmly entrenched in their Scottish/French background. Originally from Codroy Valley, they now live in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. Over the past few years, The Cormiers have entertained at many of Newfoundland's major music festivals and have participated in many benefit concerts including VOCM Happy Tree and Janeway Celebration Concert. They performed to capacity crowds in several Ontario venues including the North Bay Heritage Festival with Aaron Lines and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. They have also shared the stage with Sammy Kershaw and Lori Morgan at St. John's Mile One Centre and the Exhibition Grounds in Truro. At the MusicNL awards on Nov 06/05, The Cormiers took home 4 awards including Roots Group/Group/Album & Socan Song of the Year, "Not Me, Not Now". They have showcased at ECMAs, Canadian Music Week, Contact East and Alberta Contact, Austin, Texas - North American Folk Alliance & Pacific Contact in Vancouver, BC. The Cormiers self-titled CD was produced by Chad Irschick (The Rankins, Bruce Guthro, Natalie MacMaster, etc.) and showcases their strong vocal harmonies as well as the uniqueness of their original style of music. The Cormiers feel they have come full circle with their latest CD produced by Gordon Cormier. Their music is emerging into a modern folk sound that delivers a strong message to its listeners and they are pleased to bring this celtic style of music to you!
