No sooner did the Chateauguay-based rock band The Cranes amaze spectators at the local Canada Day festivities last week, than the group signed on to play three New York sites over Labour Day weekend.
The Cranes, led by frenetic lead singer Richard Leduc, will appear at Kenny's Castaway on Bleeker street on Aug. 30; The Trash Bar in Brooklyn on Aug. 31, and Arlene's Grocery on Stanton street on Sept. 1.
Other band members are Chateauguay brothers Cam and Scott Stirling (guitarist and drummer respectively) and bassist Anik Dufresne.
In New York The Cranes will be performing maily originals from their first self-titled CD, as well as some new material written for their next CD. One of their new songs, "None of Your Business", has already been picked up by a local publishing firm.
The group's new promotion manager, Hélène Vaillancourt, is inquiring into bus services and accommodations for any Cranes fans who may be contemplating making the trip for that holiday weekend. She can be reached at heleneforthecranes@hotmail.com.

Bio
If you head north, way above Jersey, keep going past Boston, New Hampshire and even Vermont. Stop somewhere north of the Canadian border, just before hitting Montreal. The south shore of Montreal is where you'll find a small town bordering a native reserve.
This town is Chateauguay. You won't find gators in the swamps of Chateauguay, they can't handle the Canadian winters. You will find a much more aggressive animal, mean, relentless, in numbers so vast at night fall that your skin will crawl, and itch. The mosquito reigns supreme. If you're stuck in one of these swamps, whether you're fighting the mosquitoes or the winter's frost bite, if you listen hard, you can hear a party somewhere. If you let it, the energy will drive away the biting little bastards and warm your soul... if you follow it, you will find gatherings of people swaying and singing. Once you found them, you found The Cranes. For they are the energy that drives the blood to ignore the bug bites, the winter frost, and everything the elements can throw at you.
The Cranes are Rich Leduc on vocals, brothers Cam and Scott Stirling on guitar and drums, and Mike Simpson on the bass. Ask around the swamp, ask the inhabitants where they go when they need their fix. They'll tell you, they go where The Cranes are playing. See you there.
