"Download 2009"

One good thing about a festival is discovering great new bands. We've heard The Crave before but forgot how good they were until they opened the second stage on Saturday. Many of the band's songs sound like hits in the making. The band show a lot of potential with their commercial sounding rock. 'High' in particular has a gorgeously serene air to it. This band is one to watch out for. - Black Velvet Magazine #26

"Track of the Day"

Taking us back to a less complicated era, The Crave are young Brits fuelled by a passion for AC/DC, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters and Tom Petty. And they provide not one, not two, but three Tracks Of The Day. Click here for previous Tracks Of The Day.

From Brighton, this lot have only together for three years. But they have already packed in so much. They’re toured the UK and Europe with Deep Purple, Buckcherry, Hinder, Theory Of A Deadman and Shinedown. In addition, they’re played in America, on bills alongside Bruce Springsteen and the Foos.

During that time, Ryan Burnett (guitar/vocals), Carlos Garcia (guitar), Tom Bass Swann ( bass) and CJ Evans (drums) have honed a sound that is big, ballsy rock’n'roll, in the process developing their own style and swagger.

An EP, High, is now available through iTunes and Amazon. This involved producer Mark Flannery (who’s worked with Def Leppard and U2) and was mixed by Matt Hyde (Monster Magnet, Slayer). Their debut album is due out in January. But you don’t have to wait until then to hear what The Crave are all about. They’ve now made three live tracks, recorded at the prestigious Rock Am Ring Festival in Germany, available for free download.

Bio

Back in a simpler time there was no indie, no emo, no nu-rave. No post-this, post-that, post-whatever the hell else. There was just riff-laden, ballsy rock ‘n’ roll; huge songs, life-changing gigs and a whole world of noisy, gutsy fun that took people out of their dreary everyday lives and made them feel truly special.

It’s from this effervescent historical well that the UK’s most charismatic young band draw their inspirations. But this is no retro pastiche – these boys are young, hungry and bringing classic rock songwriting flailing and wailing into the 21st century. It’s the Foo Fighters and AC/DC in a booze-fuelled riff showdown.

The past 3 years have seen the guys complete 3 tours of the US including shows at the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary alongside Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters, the Brit Bus tour which took them 5,000 miles across the Country on an English double decker bus and a headlining show at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel Casino on Halloween night.

Add to this over 120 tour dates in the UK & Europe this past year and a half on their own and w/Shinedown, Hot Leg, Buckcherry, Hinder, Theory of a Deadman & Deep Purple – plus slots at Download & Sonisphere festivals last year – and The Crave have become a powerful and well-oiled machine.

If you didn’t catch The Crave on tour w/Heaven’s Basement or Flyleaf this Spring, see them (dates below) before they fly off for a residency at The Hard Rock Cafe in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for August.
