"Man wants to mix motorcycles, fellowship"

By Chris Hunterman
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

Martinsburg, WV – Martin Warriner is mixing his love of motorcycles and his Christian values with a special event this weekend.

Warriner helped organize the first “Bikes at the Grove” event scheduled to take place Sunday, which includes a ride down to a Church service in Virginia.

He wants the event to establish fellowship, and he hopes it will entice people who normally do not go to church to begin attending services. He added that the event is free to the public.

“The only thing you have to do is put gas in your bike, “ Warriner said.

Area bikers will meet in front of Superjuiced.com on North Queen Street in Martinsburg at 7 a.m. and after breakfast at the Spring House Restaurant, they will travel down Interstate 81 to Virginia. After stopping to meet up with more bikers at the Dinosaur Land Prehistoric Forestry on Stonewall Jackson Highway in White Post, VA. the group will complete it’s journey to the Forest Grove Baptist Church located outside Amissville, VA.

Warriner plays guitar for The Crosstones, a group that has performed at the church and is scheduled to perform at the Sunday event. Warriner said that he and his bandmates have ridden their motorcycles to the church in the past, and he said the church elders asked them to continue riding their motorcycles to church.

“They told us that people loved seeing them outside, and the number of motorcycles outside the church has just grown,” Warriner said.

Warriner is the elder of the tri-county chapter for Bikers for Christ, and members of that group as well as the Christian Motorcycle Association plan to participate in the event.

The bikers are scheduled to arrive at the church around 10 a.m. where a Sunday school service is scheduled, which will be followed by a contemporary service at 11 a.m. The church will then host a fellowship lunch at noon, followed by a performance by Warriner’s group.

Bruce Hutton, owner of Superjuiced.com, is helping to sponsor the event. He said he is giving out information to his customers, and he will have a raffle and give away other prizes at the Sunday event.

Hutton said the event is meant to help the church by bringing in different people, and he also hopes people who come to downtown Martinsburg for the beginning of the event can see what the area has to offer.

More information on the event can be found by visiting www.bikesatthegrove.com.

Bio

The Crosstones formed when Rev. Mark DeAngelis and Mark Rogers met one another at church in Front Royal, VA. Both had played professionally, Rogers the guitar and DeAngelis the drums. Rogers called one day and asked DeAngelis if he would be interested in a used drum kit. This led to a jam session and the seed for the formation of The Crosstones was planted! The band has just released their new single “A Simple Time” in November of 2008, which climbed to #7 on the Soundclick chart within a week.

OUR MISSION
To feed the Lord’s sheep through music, ministry, fellowship and food!

OUR MINISTRY: Now booking the 2009 “Will Play For Food” Tour.
Our ministry is centered upon feeding the hungry. We ask a host church or venue to sponsor us to come and play at their facility. We ask that the price of admission to the show be a non-perishable food item. The food collected can be donated to a local food pantry, food bank, or needy families in the area. We normally have two sets of music with an intermission of about 30 minutes. This allows our host to raise money by selling refreshments during the intermission. We can either play the two sets or have another group join us to perform the first set. We take up a love offering during the second set and we give 10% of that offering back to our host. The balance is split between the two bands.
