"The Crosstown Trio - 'Company'"

This Farnham trio's passion for blues, folk and roots is clear in their music and offers something pretty unique on the local music scene. They only met back in the early months of 2011 and decided to form The Crosstown Trio as they were all keen to start a band that took its influences from these genres and a few more besides. Gigging over the past twelve months from open mic slots, to more well-known local venues and even Guilfest this summer, they have built up a decent following and found the sound they came together for.

Our featured song is the title track from their upcoming album 'Company', which will be launched at a gig at The Barn in Farnham on the 22nd September. If you can't wait, copies are available to pre-order now, check out the bands website for more details.?

As the song begins and the double bass plays you know it is going to be something different to the norm. The song is enjoyable on first listen, but its not until the second or third time around, the quality of the singing, the musicianship, the style and the lyrics really hit you. It's a great track, that will be enjoyed by a wide range of music fans as it brings together so much and does it so expertly. Lead singer Charlie Walter's style ensure 'Company' does not in any way sound dated, but creates a contemporary sound from traditional influences.?

The Crosstown Trio continue to gig across the region, in addition to the album launch event, they are also performing at The Butler in Reading on the 28th September. Reviews of their live performances have all been extremely positive as they have surprised audiences, not just with the unique sound for a young band, but with a tight and professional set. - Rose Coloured

Bio

The Crosstown Trio started off gigging regularly at local ‘open mic nights’ around Surrey and Hampshire, and what began as ‘jamming’ soon turned into something more focused. The trio quickly succeeded in playing more prestigious venues, headlining more and more local bars and public houses inside and out of town.

Gaining publicity through these regular music events, the band’s repertoire began to expand across many different genres. Featuring on local radio stations as well as a handful of music venues, the bands original songs were just as well received as their covers.

“A new and refreshing sound from one of the finest young bands out there. Solid performance and great versatility. They will take you from funk to reggae in a twister of musical talent ” - Marios Panteli - The Barn, Farnham

"One of the best live sessions we've had in so far, a very talented trio'” - Lydia Stockbridge - The Boileroom Radio Show on KANE FM

“A band with soul, blues, versatility and a natural ability to keep in tune with their crowds, the Cross Town Trio are young but extremely talented, armed with a variety of instruments that, alone will wow you!” - Kerrie Braithwaite - Live Magazine

“The Crosstown Trio have a sound which is so familiar yet so unique to today’s music scene. Mellow vocals combined with what can only be described as “smooth grooves” is so refreshing to hear from 3 young guys who appreciate how a song is constructed and play their instruments with the passion that they deserve.” - Stuart Provan - 96.4 Eagle Radio

“Mixing a blend of blues and folk with rock and jive, the band have far more to offer. You just want make the most of that alcoholic beverage you just downed and get up on the dance floor. The band are a delight and well worth checking out at their next gig. Watch out for these lads over the next couple of years, a definite must hear!” - Jason Riordan - White Bear Promotions

"The Crosstown Trio are a talented band. A nice groove and quality songs." - Vic Cracknell

It quickly dawned on them that they were doing something very right that appealed to a large age and social demographic; the only problem was that none of them were old enough to drink so they had to sneak/lie their way into music venues to play gigs. Before they could blink an eye they were noticed and approached by local music aficionado James Dorset (son of Ray Dorset aka **Mungo Jerry ** ‘In the Summertime’) who set about helping them put the pieces of the of musical jigsaw together. The band are now signed to indie roots label Boot Power Records and are working with producer Jolyon Thomas (**Daughter, **M83, **Sigur Ros) on their first studio EP, to be released mid spring 2013, before embarking on a tour of the south of the UK and a ton of festival appearances.

Aside from shows all over the South & South-West including sell-out shows supporting Willy Mason, and The Motley Stage Crew, past achievements have included performances at: Guilfest, WeyFest, Guildford Beer Festival. Reaching the final top 10 for Radio 2's Young Folk Awards & raising funds for charity via Busking For Cancer and more.
