Bio

The Crux began in 2007, performing at the many house and barn shows that were occurring in their hometown of Santa Rosa, California. With the leadership of founder Josh Wolfe, the ensemble has performed non-stop since their creation and has continued to challenge themselves with many new songs and arrangements. The Crux utilize gypsy, Americana, Celtic, klezmer, gospel, jazz and blues styles in a riveting performance that is part wild dance, part storytelling, and part joyous punk uprising.

The Crux have been key in organizing and invigorating the "Do-it Yourself" crowd in their local area. They have put a great deal of time and effort into supporting community events and providing music for fundraisers, skill-share workshops, and a number of local backyard gatherings.

But The Crux are not limited to DIY house and barn shows. The band has constantly been reaching out to wider audiences, performing at wineries, pubs, weddings, and formal venues such as Petaluma's Mystic Theater and San Francisco's Amnesia Bar. They have also undertaken one major west coast tour, as well as a number of small excursions to nearby counties.

The Crux are a very creative ensemble with lots of artistic momentum. The group has just finished a new 8 song CD (due for release in early April) and is collaborating with a film-maker and a puppet-troupe on a new music video.
