C. Sharp
What would be the outcome if you took Fresh Prince’s lack of profanity and combined it with Nas’s poetic license & Rakim’s metaphorical genius? The answer: C. Sharp’s debut mixtape “R.A.P.: Rhythm & Poetry”. There is no suspense about the musical avenues in which C. Sharp uses to deliver this project, the title explains it all. Intertwining both an authenticity to hip hop and a poetic rhythm, C. Sharp sends the listener on an introspective odyssey through a young man’s mind in this society. Producer Tone P from Flawless Tracks (known for producing for grammy nominated artist Wale) constructs the music for three stand out tracks, R.A.P. (Intro), 6:00, & R.A.P. (Outro). This project reveals C. Sharp’s since of versatility as well as the awareness of the listener’s attention span. While songs such as Dreams & Nightmares cater to a slower more reflective sound, it is countered with the club ready single Get Right. C. Sharp starts off this journey by addressing a new genre of music on the introduction track R.A.P. (Intro), yet he ends with the piano driven, introspective Late Night Thoughts. Rhythm & Poetry will not only leave the listener entertained with the music but in a contemplative state about life, love, and self-existence.
Christian (Chris) Hill (born June 2nd, 1993), known by his stage C. Sharp, is a hip hop artist from Little Rock, Arkansas. C. Sharp has lived in three different states, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Illinois. He credits each state for having its own individual impact on his music. Arkansas is where he was introduced to Texas “swanger” music, Illinois introduced him to east coast style music, and Tennessee introduced him to a culture of music influenced by 8ball & MJG. C. Sharp uses all of these influences to create his own original style by combining the infamous lyrical presence of east coast music with the story telling, car banging music of the south. C. Sharp is truly an artist birthed from a melting pot. Dropping R.A.P. in November 2011, C. Sharp has been on a tirade of performances while promoting his music. Restraining from the use of profanity in his music it seems that C. Sharp is destined to be a household name. At a tender age of 19 years old his potential is both alarming and for other artist frightening. Being such an anomaly, the sky is truly the limit.
