Bio

The Cujo Family were formed over two years ago in the foothills of Wicklow and since then
have been rolling and rocking around the country, quickly becoming the talk of the town and
the city. Their brand of music is pure and heartfelt and they know how to kick up a storm. It
has been labelled country and folk-rock but they have taken these genres and truly made them
their own. They have been likened to such bands as Old Crow Medecine Show, The Pogues
and The Band; a rock group with a keen sense of lyrical melody, close harmonies and a cache
of traditional instruments. Giving a nod to the past they are very much of their own time and
place.
Live shows are a journey through waltzing ballads, foot stomping hoe downs and good
old fashioned rockers. Since their inception in the seaside town of Bray, the family have
toured the festival circuit of Ireland playing a diverse and wide range of festivals, from the
rootsy bluegrass of Dunmore East to the fields of The Electric Picnic and Life Festival. Not
to mention supporting Irish international trad act ‘Kila’, and tearing the roof, the Gateway
festival.
As well as being seasoned campaigners on the festival circuit, this gang of reprobates have
played numerous bars across the globe including, Whelans & The Button Factory (Dublin),
The Bar Fly (Camden, London) and The Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), to name, quite
literally a few.
The family keeps growing and is now a swaggering six- piece outfit who are stage fit and
bubbling with creativity. Their self-titled debut album is raw and energetic and just a taste
of things to come. As we speak they are recording their forthcoming second album after the
astonishing success of the first.
2012 will see the Cujo Family reach a wider audience and a new level as they embark on a
European tour following the release of the new album in Feburary/ March.

? "Live show must be experienced to be believed. Not dancing is an impossibility.
Favorite gig of last years electric picnic (missed this year, gutted) and am counting the
days till their next album. These lads are the real deal."
Celtic Music Radio

? "They are like an enormous archive of old music, as well as being a new artist, they are
definitely worthy of carrying traditional Irish music into the present".
Louise Holden ( Irish Times)
