"Kaplin / Stagger Lee gig review"

"They punch out the tracks, wailing solos, waltzing lines, catchy melodies, hidden in a haze of sleaze and dirt. There was rocknroll; there was sex, now if only I could find out where they hide the drugs. a show worth seeing, and a band worth listening to, where so many falter when they play the blues, Stagger Lee rise above it all and produce some fine sounds" - Drop D Magazine Sept '06

"Psychofest #2 Voodoo Lounge Dublin"

Tonight the blood red walls & blacked out windows of the voodoo lounge provide the perfect setting for powder pale girls, leather clad guys and the dirty sounds of Dublins new frontline, the debauched blues of Stagger Lee recalls the explosive aggression of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion; " Bands like Stagger Lee are just amazing, you can feel a real buzz about Dublin at the moment, it's really starting to happen." - NME (Tim Jonze)

"Psychofest #2 Voodoo Lounge Dublin"

"...Stagger Lee don't belong in a quagmire of underachieving rock n'roll bands; their superior, oppressive redolence of jealousy, longing, loss and lust puts a yawning chasm between them and the deathly average" Johnnie Craig - InDublin Magazine July '06

Bio

The Dagger Lee's put the sweat, blood and tears back into rock and roll. They play music with grit and grease and sing songs about jealousy, high teason, betrayal and split lips.

They want to share a bottle with you, steal your girlfriend, steal your boyfriend, rob your money, corrupt your heart and give you the night of your life. They might not be there in the morning when you wake, but they’ll leave you with a smile on your face wanting more.

Having begun life known as Stagger Lee, and adopting that bad man's passions, the Dagger Lee's left an indelible mark in 2007, with their debut single 'Bad Shoes'. They changed their name in early 2008 to kick down the doors of what had gone before, parted ways with the past and now prepare to record their hot;y anticpated debut album with Detroit producer Jim Diamond in Autumn 2008.

In April 2007, their debut single 'Bad Shoes' was released on their own label (Split Lip Records) and reached no. 5 in the charts of Ireland's only indie station. They've made several TV appearances on Irish television and the video accompanying their debut single became a YouTube cult classic.

Their sound embodies the spirit of Robert Johnson’s Devil-at-the-crossroads and Mavis Staples sultry gospel cry combined with the energy and attitude of The Gossip, The Cramps and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Highlights to date have included appearances with The Kills, Jon Spencer Blues Xplosion, The Duke Spirit, Sleater Kinny, The Grates, The Long Blondes, The Drones, The Von Bondies and Pink Grease.

The Dagger Lee's have played clubs in Berlin and London and were invited to launch the Irish date of the European MySpace Festival.
