""The Philly Stroke" bringing the sounds for The Dana Gaynor Band"

New Press release
Category: Music

Los Angeles, CA – Jam-master fusioneer Dana Gaynor and her Dana Gaynor Band have just released a sizzling album of jam rock, fusion, funk and prog sensibilities, all wrapped up in a focused delivery of spot-on percussion, sexy guitars and hooked-up rhythms.

"The Infamous Dr. D" is tightly packed with steaming, energetic tunes whose warmth comes right out of the speakers. This is music that will keep you warm in the winter, all by itself. The album's first single, "The Philly Stroke," shows The Dana Gaynor Band doing what it does best. The song opens the door to the Gaynor universe, telling the listener what to anticipate from "The Infamous Dr. D." Jazz, funk, blues, rock and more go into this mix of musical mastery; the audience can revel in the jamming flow and the progressive inclinations of this music, that brings on the brain without sacrificing mass appeal.

"The Philly Stroke" opens up some of the feelings Gaynor has for Philadelphia, a city in which she resided for a while. "There is a particular kind of hustle street merchants run on you there and this song is about that."

The single is typical of Gaynor's work on "The Infamous Dr. D" in that it is essentially a live performance, though studio recorded. "I think (the single) represents my live energy very well," she says. "It is the most uptempo song on the album."

"The Dana Gaynor Band is a project I have wanted to do for a long time," says Gaynor. She originally brought the membership together to support her new "Infamous" solo album. But the group "has really blossomed into a force in its own right." Gaynor speaks highly of the level of musicianship represented by the players in her band, "part of a larger family of hot musicians I tend to work with."

"The Infamous Dr. D" has already received digital release and will hit the streets in physical format on May 1. Previous albums include "Vampires from Mars" in 2002, "The Amazing Bluesmatics" in 2004,"Jazztronaut" in 2005 and "Notorious Groove" in 2006, all on Real Thing Records. Gaynor has been nominated for the Buddy Guy Blues Guitar Award and best all-around performer for the 2006 Lehigh Valley Music Awards.

She is currently Top artist for Indie Euphoric Rebel Records. More information is available by visiting www.myspace.com/danagaynor, www.danagaynor.com
