Bio

Since their birth in the summer of 2004, Cork band the Dardanelles have been quietly gathering a loyal fan base in their home city. The release of their debut e.p. “Coming Up For Air” in June of 2006 saw the group impress the Cork faithful and press alike with Don O’ Mahony of the Evening Echo raving:

"possessess the soaring energy and endearing naiveté of early U2.….a relentlessly chugging thing powered by a great motor”.

Fronted by Cathal Geary (winner of the Murphy's UnCorked Singer Songwriter
Competition), the band's dynamics are far from limited with Kevin Waugh alternating between guitar and keyboards, David Cooney on bass and Ronan Cooney on drums. Shifting from edgy rock to whispering melodic slow songs is effortless to this band and always ensures a rich tapestry of sound.

Support slots with the likes of Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, the Hothouse Flowers, Julie Feeney and Autamata have done little to harm this quartet’s arrival to the Irish music scene. Live favourites 'The Best of Emily Dickinson', '1,000 Lights' and 'Murder Me' exhibit both the song scope of the Dardanelles and their exuberating live performance.
