The Dead Cities

 Negaunee, Michigan, USA
BandAlternativeRock

We are an alternative/indie rock band from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. All five of us have college degrees and dead-end jobs. We LOVE to play loud(we were once asked by a bar to turn it down)! People have compared our songs to those of Queens of the Stone Age and Dinosaur Jr.

Biography

We are from Neguanee, Michigan. After three of the five original members left(mostly due to getting real jobs), Tim and TJ decided to keep the band going, by finding some friends to replace them. The lineup change gave the band a more focused direction. The major influences are Dinosaur Jr, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam, The Hold Steady and The Smashing Pumpkins. What sets us apart from other bands is the wide variety of music that every member appreciates. Even though it is primarily a hard rock band, there is evidence of influences from odd places. For example, the end of Ride the Fader draws from 20th century composer Steve Reich. Our story is simple. We are just five college graduates, working dead-end jobs, who love making and performing music.

Ride The Fader

Written By: The Dead Cities

I never tried to be anything but the machine that is me. All these songs I've sung, can't compare, without a sound. Can we please repeat track one and talk about where you been? All these things I'll leave behind won't keep my eyes wide.

Won't you come take me away? I've always wanted brighter days. Try to find your peace of mind, it will not be there all the time.

I never wanted to be locked inside, this world is crashing down. Cannot seem to find...whatever, it's just in my mind. A thousand times denied, I'm a masochist of I'm just blind. Give me a good thing and I'll throw it all away in just a day.

Won't you come take me away? I've always wanted brighter days. Try to find your peace of mind, it will not be there all the time. Leave the bottle on the shelf, we'll just pray for better health. And ride the fader 'til it dies...was it such a big surprise?
