The Deadlight have been together for just under a year; formed by Jon Hargreaves, Rich Hargreaves, and Neil Jackson from the ashes of former band Six Foot Daze. New songs were written and with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Tim Hudson on bass as well as singer/songwriter Matt Dunn on vocals and guitar, the band have quickly developed a reputation as a must-see group.
Matt Seymour from BBC Radio's Raw Talent programme quickly spotted the band's potential and offered them a live session on his show earlier in the year. Following this the band went into the studio to get some songs onto tape which have also enjoyed frequent rotation on the BBC show. The band will be heading back into the studio in July as their creative output shows no signs of relenting.
Recent gigs have seen an increasing number of attendance figures and the band are hoping to play many more gigs this summer including Scarborough's Beach Festival as well as the Leeds Festival Fringe event. Influences are varied amongst each band member from Pearl Jam, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Hendrix, Dylan to name but a few. The Deadlight's tight rhythm section is formed around the two brothers, couple with the technical prowess of lead guitarist Neil, and Matt's evident vocal talents, this is much more than just 'a rock band'.
