Bio

The DeadLiners are a group of bandsmen who have individually been performing since they were teenagers -- as much as 35 years ago. That spirit of teen joy in music goes into the spirit they bring to their performances. The band plays a wide variety of music, embracing rock and roll of the 1960s but extending to the 1980s and even a few recent tunes. They also perform originals and have produced three CDs -- “The Early Years,” “Out of the Basement,” and “Stinger.” The DeadLiners formed in 2004 when several reporters working for a local newspaper discovered they had a shared interest in music, and since newspapers have deadlines, the name of the band became The DeadLiners (note the capital “L”). Despite our name, we are not dead, nor do we cavort with devils. The DeadLiners perform at church festivals, community events, fundraisers and private parties. Of particular interest is our commitment to play for free at events dedicated to helping children with cancer and for other equally deserving charities. The band members include, but are not limited to, Jim Brekus of Bethlehem on bass guitar and lead vocals; Tony Nauroth of Hellertown on lead guitar, backup vocals and occasional ukulele; Pete Brekus, of Bethlehem on drums; George Torella of Saucon Valley on djembe (African drum), backup vocals and occasional guitar; Dave Strain of Hanover Township on keyboard, mandolin, rhythm guitar, 12-string guitar, backup vocals and harmonicas; Matt Smith on second lead guitar and vocals. That’s the core of the band, but others are included as needed and as their schedules permit.
