Bio

The Dead Marxist Trio is a psychedelic, hard rock band, fusing blues roots with polyrhythmic beats and experimental key changes. The band consists of Tristan Brown (guitar/vocals), Rob Dewar (bass/vocals) and Braemar Bartlett (percussion/vocals).
Long time friends, Rob and Tristan began playing music together in high school, gigging and recording as Next in Line (2002) and later as Sugar Sweet Mama (2003). In 2003, the two took a break and went off to different colleges. They continued to jam intermittently, pulling in Braemar, another long time friend, to fill in on drums. As Doc Brown and the FluxCapacitones, the group was asked to play an event at Bay State College in fall 2007. After changing their name in August 2008, the Dead Marxist Trio has played gigs all around the Boston area, including Harper’s Ferry, the All Asia Café, and T.T. the Bears.
In September 2009, the band released their demo, the first studio quality recordings of the band. Dead Marxist Trio has developed a small but committed fan base. Currently working on expanding their fan base in Southern New England, the group has plans to play New York and the Mid-Atlantic region in 2010. 2010 promises big things for the Trio, including more gigs, the first DMT ‘guitar-and-sickle’ t-shirts, and the recording of the band’s first EP. Within a year the band will be touring to support the album and build the Dead Marxist Movement
