"7 June 2008"

" The Dead Toys launched in with a crisp sound. “Dance around the fire of a passion you long to reveal”. “There’s nothing left to say but we can dream of flight”. Youthful exuberance bubbled up out of the soundhole and flew around the room. '17' was their second song. “Still drinking sunlight in the rain...." Like Rosie Bell earlier, utterly no pretensions, just a band who have concentrated on making classic songs without the jibber-jabber. Lastly, during 'Green'... Nature and song melted and twisted until the line between the two became blurred...." - Out Of The Bedroom

"28 June 2008"

The Dead Toys: "..Michael adopts the “Slash” guitar stance quite convincingly for 'Too Late For The Dance'; I’m getting distinct Robert Smith/Lloyd Cole vibes in this hard driven song. 'Little Bird' is more conventional as Michael sings “Light your diamond eyes, crystal sorrow in your tears”; solid romantic imagery played in the key of D. 'Green' may be an environmental rant or may be about being naive. Whatever the exact subject matter, rhyming 'green' with 'libertine' is worth 10 points. I like the way (they) seem to easily straddle a number of styles and yet remain both cool and concerned at the same time. - Out Of The Bedroom

"19 July 2008"

"...The Dead Toys commenced with ‘Pretty Girl Sigh’, which was energetic, poppy and right up my street. Could more people write songs with “ba-ba-ba” in them, please? ‘Ghosts’ had some deeply poetic lyrics with another great melody and a good arrangement. ‘The Stone in Light’ was a bit racy with lyrics such as “I’m the man that will make you scream and shout”. The guitar part in the chorus reminded me of legendary new wave outfit Television. This was a truly poptastic and enjoyable set....." - Out Of The Bedroom

Bio

One day all of this will make sense...

The Dead Toys hail from Edinburgh, Scotland and have fast built up a loyal following for their own brand of melodic and arresting music.

We could go on at length, but let's be honest...we're all here for the music and the music alone - so our story is in our songs....
