"Rock Hunt Wages"

"Despite their relative infancy as a band, Death of Paris is the beast at that gate that will be tough for anyone to slay. They out hustle bands as far as bringing in crowds, they have a couple of radio friendly toe tappers that are already getting spins." - Motif Magazine - April 7, 2011

"SMP Unsigned Bands"

"Dealing with tragedy is no easy thing. Singer-songwriter Nathan Harrop uses The Death of Paris as a musical outlet for his life, having written about his sister's death, his mother's drug addiction, his father's abuse and prison time, his wife's infidelity, and events that most of us could not summon the courage to share. Harrop opens his soul and lays his life on the line for everyone to hear, resulting in a truly genuine and heartfelt sound. "

"Wicked Local Band: The Death Of Paris Deals In Drama"

WE ROCKED: Our first show had 300 kids, opening for the well-known Bowling For Soup. Our next show was opening for The Ataris with an audience of about 200. The crazy part was all the kids were singing the words to our songs even though we haven't put any recordings out. We later found out that these same kids were at the Bowling For Soup show and liked us so much they videotaped us with their phones and put us up on YouTube. These same kids watched the videos so often that they memorized the words to the songs. It was quite a surreal moment.

"Album Review: The Death of Paris"

well-polished, musically tight, energetic power pop music. The lyrics trend on the emotional side: lead singer Nathan Harrop has certainly had his share of trials and tribulations, and is bound and determined to commit them all to print (via the band and an upcoming autobiography) before shuffling off this mortal coil. That said, he is able to convey his tales of torment and mistrust without whining, a feat that is not easily accomplished. - Dying Scene / Friday March 25, 2011

"Eleven Local Artists to Watch in 2011"

"2010 was an awesome year for the music scene in Boston and throughout New England. Diversity ruled with a wide range of acts impressing audiences at local clubs and several earning national buzz. With the local music scene under a bigger spotlight, 2011 has potential to be even more special. With that in mind, we’ve selected eleven artists that we’ll be watching over the next year – some to see how they continue to build their name on home turf and others to see how they breakthrough and gain the national acclaim that is so well deserved. Here they are, in no particular order: The Death of Paris: The band’s songs are based on Harrop’s life story, including his sister’s death, his mother’s drug addiction, his father’s alcoholism, abuse and prison time. Add to that a great live show and its no wonder the band is already hearing from few labels. "

"The Death Of Paris - "Bed's On Fire""

"It seems many people in the world need a wakeup call this morning. It’s a good thing that we have The Death Of Paris here to wake us up with “Bed’s On Fire.” If there was ever a good reason to get out of bed, the song “Bed’s On Fire” is second only to your actual bed being on fire. The energy demonstrated in this track comes through in the punchy, soaring melody as well as a highly present guitar line that, simply put, does not give up. The highly-articulate guitar chatters and squawks its way through the melee of “Bed’s On Fire,” not just punctuating phrases but offering asides all the way through. The vocal finds its way through peaks, dives and dramatic ascents via the melody. "

"The Death of Paris welcomes you to the real world"

"The Death of Paris is a hard pop band firmly rooted in the harsh realities of life. Unlike other acts that bask in the glow of new found fans and fame – dropping the edge for the sake of feel-good pop – The Death of Paris has stayed grounded in its music filled with meaningful lyrics torn straight from real life, but with a glint of hope and optimism for the future. We interviewed lead singer and guitarist Nathan Harrop about how The Death of Paris came to be, what inspires the band, and especially what inspires him to write about his grim past as a means to move forward in his own life. The stories he tells are compelling on paper, but even more so through the band’s music."

"The Death of Paris – ‘The Death of Paris’ Sampler"

"The Boston band The Death of Paris was formed by members from other bands including, Sage Francis, a member from one of the guys from Drop Kick Murphy’s side project and international touring independent band Say When. The band’s song lyrics are brutally honest thanks to band lead singer-songwriter Nathan Harrop who is willing to share his tragic life that has included the death of his sister, getting abused as a child, dealing with his mother’s drug addictions and a plethora of issues most of us don't talk about. The band recently opened for Bowling for Soup and The Ataris. They’ve also been busy recording music with famed producer Scott Reibling (Letters to Cleo, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Butch Walker). How can you not pull for a band and lead singer Nathan Harrop who’s had to endure so much in his young life. The Death of Paris has a lot to offer the listeners of their music and I see a very bright future ahead for them."

Bio

The Death of Paris is a dark, dramatic outlet for singer-songwriter Nathan Harrop's life story.
With manic energy and dark elegance, the songs tell stories most of us couldn't summon the courage to share: his father's alcoholism, his wife's infidelity, his mother's drug addiction, the death of his sister. Poetically and proudly, he puts his life in the music for everyone to hear.
Harrop found his lineup when he happened upon an unsigned band that had been touring North America independently on a fierce schedule, playing more than 250 shows a year. At first, he asked them to work as sidemen on his solo record, but the band's chemistry and creative process proved too good for just a one-off collaboration.
The Death of Paris was born. With warm-up performances for Bowling for Soup, The Ataris and Punchline, the band took its songs into the studio with producers Scott Riebling (Fall Out Boy, Metro Station, Cobra Starship) and Kato Khandwala (The Pretty Reckless, Paramore, Drowning Pool.)
The Death of Paris' first single, "Bed's On Fire," made the daily rotation of WBRU-FM in Providence and made the station's top hits list, ranking among the top 30 requested songs. The band has been chosen to perform at the Skate Against Drugs Festival in Bangor, Maine, alongside Hit The Lights, You, Me and Everyone we Know, among others.
