The Debutante Massacre

Coming from the three of us, I would say Guns n Roses, The Damned, Misfits, Danzig, The Dresden Dolls, Marilyn Manson, Smashing Pumpkins, Ben Folds, would about sum up our biggest influences.

The Debutante Massacre was formed somewhat by accident, and partly by necessity. Jeremy and I (Charles) used to be in a rock band years ago, but parted ways when I moved to Florida. The day before I moved we played a final show, with him on piano and me on vocals. We did a set of cover songs, and it was super sad.
Needless to say, I fell on my face and had to move back. When I moved back, I started dating this girl, and at the same time, hooked back up with Jeremy. He and I tried to get the old band back together. It was ok, but not the same. One day at practice, Jeremy(bass player at the time) started playing this strange riff on an old piano off in the corner of the room. “Let’s do that instead” I said. Eventually we lost the drummer and the extra guitar player, and were a pianist, and a singer. We didn’t get very far at first. We wrote a few songs, and played a few shows, and nothing. It wasn’t till my I caught my girlfriend cheating on me that things began to get interesting. I wanted revenge so bad that it consumed my daily thoughts. I became obsessed with revenge, not just my own, but revenge in general. Writing songs with revenge as motivation, gave me a passion that I had never experienced before, and putting it to music made the obsession much much worse, but kept me from actually having to avenge myself.
I took my frustrations out through the words and melodies I put to Jeremy’s piano parts., and became more demented than I had ever been, but I now had my purpose back.
We recruited a new drummer(Jon), who brought us both to a level we had no idea we could achieve. An old friend, whom we had talked about working with for so long, who was more than a perfect fit. He is a drummer but, has become a foundation and a symbol of stability.
The Shamalon twist is, the same tragedy that happened to me(cheating girl friend), happened to Jeremy and Jon Both within a span of a few months. Needless to say, we all began to take revenge via our song writing. Without this band, the three of us may have lost our grip on reality, and quite possibly, may have done something quite awful.
