super melodic, catchy, clean, original. this album is great! i'd like to drink a glass or seven of Bikaver while thinking about the one that could have been (that's Alison McCarthy to you) whilst listening to this album. That's the only way i can describe the music. They're playing at the Elbow Room on bleeker street in nyc on may 30th so check them out. what did i miss here... oh it's a 3 piece from Conn. - robby

THE DENT – FAREWELL: Farewell is the fourth release from The Dent. The Dent are long time friends creating power pop songs touched with classic rock sounds. They have been compared to Paul Simon and REM to name but a few. Farewell is a diverse eleven-track collection of songs that range from intricate melodies, to orchestral ballads to fast paced tracks with a modern edge. The Dent has layered vocal harmonies, catchy hooks and top-notch instrumentation. Farewell is a self produced CD that captures the collective experiences of each band member. 'Fantastic' reminds me of classic Squeeze with its crisp clear vocals, upbeat instrumentation and moves into hard driving guitars and percussion. This track melds various styles into a cohesive bond that is Fantastic! 'Lost Alone' opens with melancholy strings that subtly travel throughout the tune setting the sad expressive tone of the story. Then, edgy guitars and anguished vocals cut in completing the compelling and powerful side of this song. Farewell is full of upbeat pop tempos, melodic rock, tight harmonies and meaningful storytelling. The Dent should fair well with their latest CD.
