Biography

The Dents were a Boston punk rock band formed in late 2002/early 2003. After releasing Round One, a split CD/7 EP, with Bostons The Street Dogs, the band toured regionally and played some west coast dates, including a live appearance on Dicky Barrett's "Mighty Mighty Morning Show" on Indie 103 in LA and the BYO Punk Rock Bowling Festival in Las Vegas. Their full-length CD, Time for Biting, was produced by Boston legend Sir David Minehan (The Neighborhoods, Paul Westerberg). Upon its release, Time for Biting was nominated for a Boston Music Award for Debut Album of the Year, landed the band on the front page of the Boston Phoenix and made several local critics' Top Ten lists for that year.

Bassist/lead vocalist Michelle Paulhus, rhythm guitarist/lead vocalist Jen D'Angora, lead guitarist Craig Adams and drummer Kevin Pickering will be reuniting for a gig at TT the Bear's Place on November 18, about three years after their last live show at the Abbey Lounge. Eric Salt and The Electric City, Devil on Horseback and Muck and the Mires will also be on the bill.

Paulhus currently plays with the Andrea Gillis Band and The Other Girls, but has also been a member of The Marvels, The Street Dogs, The Real Kids and The Decals. Jen D'Angora is currently in Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents and The Downbeat 5, but has also been a member of The Other Girls. Craig Adams currently plays with Bipolar Coaster, but has also been a member of Beefy DC, Trouser (with Theo Epstein) and The Freeze. Kevin Pickering currently plays with Full Body Anchor and has also been a member of The Coffin Lids.

Last One Standing

Written By: Jennifer D'Angora

Why do the good ones go
Didn't someone let them know that it's a fight from day to day
And happiness ain't just a shot away

Sometimes when you were down
You looked around in the faces that you'd see
There was no trace of sympathy

So you shut down, you gave up
What's the use you had enough
You always told me I'd see you tomorrow

I hope that you see now I hope you're looking down
We're living with our pain did you think our loss would be your gain

The memory of your past is not as long as your last
SHOT SHOT that took you away from me

Was it worth the hit that stopped it all
Or the tears in the eyes that see you fall
One day one minute one second at a time
You'll never make it if you quit trying
Life's a fight from day to day
Happiness ain't just a shot away
Life is never how you planned it
Who will be the last one standing
Last one standing
Last one standing
Last one standing
Last one standing

Better Off

Written By: Jennifer D'Angora

Have you ever been tested, pushed around
Made to feel like you've been ground down
Outside looking in, taking one too many, on the chin,
Hearing about the things they say about yesterday
There's a whole lot of lyin' going on
Now you feel like you're under the gun
Too worried about things you do, making sure they've got no proof
Wondering if you've been found out you want to get out
And I know that they'll miss me if I go
There'll be no one left to use, no one to abuse
And I won't give it a second thought, cuz I'll be so much better off
And I feel so lonely in this crowd
Got my head stuck in the clouds
Been thinking all the time, just can't let it leave my mind
Gotta find the safest way out of here
And I don't regret the things I've done
And I won't regress to the way I was
I'll probably end up staying, they'll keep talking anyway and...
And I know that they'll miss me if I go
There'll be no one left to use, no one to abuse
And I won't give it a second thought, cuz I'll be so much better off
