"THE DEPORTEES AT THE TUNNELS"

“Although their folk and country references are there for all to see, there’s nothing Deportees like more than to rock out, and they’ve got the blend between those influences and the rock tendencies nailed down.
“Just three gigs in, and there’s already more than a whisper about The Deportees being the best local band in years. On this showing, it won’t be long before they take that crown and run with it, leaving a marker way off in the distance.” - iamnev.co.uk

"THE DEPORTEES AT DRUMMONDS"

“I can honestly say that in 10 or so years of going to see gigs in Aberdeen, I have never heard of a band creating such as buzz after just one gig as the Deportees did after their debut gig at Drummonds in December.

“I was just blown away by this band, and the reaction they got from the crowd was just astonishing for a band only on their second gig.

“Four way spine tinglingly amazing vocal harmony with no instruments being played; having four members of your band that can sing this well is just plain greedy…it's just beautiful." - Aberzine

"THE DEPORTEES"

“They have the songs, talent and, it seems, great home support to be the first Aberdeen band to amount to anything in eons. That their members have already had dress rehearsals in Eddison and the highly-rated Edgar Prais should give you an idea of their potential.” - Culture Deluxe

"MEET THE DEPORTEES"

“Aberdonians on the move – it may be early days for The Deportees, but they might be one group that Aberdeen can’t keep to itself.” - ScotCampus Magazine

"DEPORTEES TIPPED FOR GREATNESS"

“There’s a whisper going around town at the moment – something about the best band to come out of Aberdeen in many years. They’ve only played a handful of gigs, but this five-strong band are being tipped for greatness already. Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for The Deportees.” - Evening Express

Bio

We are The Deportees; five twenty-something musicians from Aberdeen, Scotland.

With an emphasis on harmony-laden multi-way vocals, our music is a bit folk, a bit rock, a bit country, a bit pop. Although relatively new to the scene, our members cut their teeth in such highly-rated Scottish acts as Edgar Prais (SuperVision Management/Helter Skelter Bookings/Dixie Cups Records), Eddison (Fat Hippy Records) and 10 Easy Wishes (Tangible Records).

Our aim is to make romantic, but not sentimental, music that is as much informed by contemporary Americana and indie-rock as it is by the timelessness of Celtic folk. The overall sound is unique; simultaneously fresh and forward-looking, but with one foot rooted in the folk tradition.

In our short existence, we have already secured high-profile slots as main support to Stornoway, Meursault, Sky Larkin, A Genuine Freakshow and French Wives, with a single – I Lost Her to the Sea - on the way in Spring 2011.
