Bio

From the dungeons of Gale's Snack Bar came the unholy terror called DIEMONDS. Toronto’s Diemonds is a fierce reminder that rock n’ roll is very much alive, with one boot in the gutter and the other planted firmly in your face. Gaining notoriety for their incendiary live shows, they were invited to play two years in a row at NXNE without ever applying, because of the buzz created around the live show.. They’ve played with bands like legendary punks Teenage Head and New York’s Semi-Precious Weapons.
Diemonds independently released their debut E.P. “In the Rough” in October ’08. The album is seven songs of female-fronted hard rock goodness that has been getting a really good response, especially when coupled with our live show. Smoke machines, wailing guitars and a crowd of rabid rockers really helps us to drive our catchy, blues-based rock & punk home and its the live atmosphere which really allows us to thrive. One of the hardest working bands in the city, they're tight musically and have postered every inch of this town, making the name Diemonds click in a lot of people's minds.
"In the Rough" quickly sold out of its first pressing after receiving killer reviews from both indie and mainstream press, both in Canada and Europe and gaining the backing of the likes of rocker/producer Moe Berg, (The Pursuit of Happiness) who has since recorded a song with Diemonds, and singer Paul Mars Black (LA Guns). Infamous UK sleaze writer/scenester Kelv Hellrazer even featured the band on his radio show “London Calling” on LA’s 100.1 The Edge.
MySpace has also helped Diemonds acquire fans all over Canada, United States, Europe and Japan. Seems like the Diemonds Dis-ease is spreading and we want to play shows all over the country and beyond to inject our heavy tunes to the far corners of the earth.
“Residing in the nether-region between ’70s glam-punk and ’80s hair metal” (Eye Weekly) Diemonds has taken cues from veterans like Guns n’ Roses, Aerosmith, and KISS and created their own brand of louder-than-hell, blues-based rock and punk.
Powerhouse Priya Panda takes centre stage on vocals, C.C. Diemond is lead guitar slayer and a thunderous rhythm section is rounded out by Cuzo on bass guitar and Alan “The Yeti” on drums. Rock rag Sleazegrinder called ‘em “Young, Tough, & Canadian” and this band of late-night lovin’ misfits prove that there ain’t no such thing as too loud. Long Live Party Rock!
