"The Disappointed- Stranger EP"

Perthie’s take note! Strangers is the debut EP collective of Perth’s new wave alternative rockers The Disappointed.

The five-track EP is the first solid original release to come from the intelligent quintet of Michael Strong, Matt Berghuis, Andy James Bartlett, Mick Colangelo and Mark Neal.

‘Every Made Up Eye In The City’ opened the EP in fine rocking fashion, getting right into a consistent steady beat, picking up the pace as the track flows on with lucid hypnotizing vocals.

‘Mirtazipine’ slows down from the opener, with the occasional incline in pulse. The backing melody is quite a 80’s retro-esque where you can imagine a character in a pondering phase walking the streets.

‘Stranger’ the EP title track is heavier in bass, and is held together nicely with translucent rock vocals and a lovely marriage between drums and guitar rocking riffs.

‘One Man Or The Other’ holds a darker vibe in comparison to the other tracks. It features a steady beat, with vocals that switch from a gentle echo to rocking swoons.

‘Movements’ begins gentle fluidly transforming into a catchy rhythm, consistent simple beat and groovy backing keyboard melody. This track shows the rustic mature swooning voices are consistent and grows on you with every track, leaving you wanting more.

The EP Strangers is a solid soulful, edgy representation of the bands luring electrifying hooks and a stellar beat accompanied by vocals that sends the imagination into a trance. The clever backing melodies of the keyboard is unique and great touch!

The Disappointed are far from disappointing, when you find yourself naturally grooving along to the catchy clever tracks based on the realities of life without the rose coloured glasses.

"EP of the Week"

“Perthites The Disappointed recently toured their stellar debut EP Stranger. Each ditty is a neurotransmitter activating the nerve impulses of listeners to bop to dark pop. Boasting four part harmonies, rapid keys, electrifying guitar hooks and an unshakeable beat, these lads are onto gold. With an alternative rock edge, lead vocalist Michael Strong coarsely swoons his way into the hearts of his fans, singing about how life isn’t always cut and dried, clear and simple, nor up and down. Mirtazipine and Stranger are equally stand out tracks, each displaying how the band runs a tight ship, locking into each other like a deadbolt on a door: firm and solid.”
