Biography

The Dizzy Band
Ernie Wooden - Vocals/Keys
Ryan Crossan - Acoustic Guitar
Nick McIntyre - Drums
Jeremy Zenor - Electric Guitar
Cody Darbe - Bass

The Dizzy Band figured it out. Get a huge apartment with a big, empty, dirty basement in a less than desirable neighborhood of Brooklyn. Take your above average chops and range of influences that include soul, funk, classic rock, hard bop, country and the blues, and put together a repertoire of original happy, sad, angry, sexual, introspective, and political, songs. Get reliable transportation. Sometimes. And make it your aim to launch a fresh attack on the NYC music scene. When The Dizzy Band did these things, an instant audience emerged dancing and singing along, overjoyed that someone had finally figured it out.
The DB was born in February 2005 when they quickly (like in one short rehearsal) arranged a brief set to play for a Tsunami Relief Concert at Galapagos Music and Art Space in Williamsburg. The rest is history. After the first few grueling sessions of jamming and implementing of each others songs, a new colorful sound started to come forward. Driven by Nick’s drums—interesting and intricate rhythms popping and crashing all over each song, and Cody’s funky inventive bass lines, The Dizzy groove is vibrant and exciting. Ryan’s aggressive acoustic guitar work adds an organic flavor to the mix, and his lyrics are literary and thought provoking. Ernie’s piano brightens everything up and his pure, powerful vocals leave listeners breathless. Jeremy is a melody savant, slicing each song with brilliant hooks and fiery solos and his lyrics are whimsical and heart-felt.
Their total energy is meant for live venues. It’s meant to be witnessed. Experienced. A Dizzy Band show is nothing short of a phenomenon—an exchange of exuberance between the performers and the crowd—and when the task was set to transfer this energy into the studio, the guys responded. In July 2005 they stuffed their gear and themselves into a van and drove to Nashville Tennessee to record their EP. With an abbreviated amount of time, they produced a crisp, solid record that’s currently beginning to circulate all over the country. The trip was the first of many road adventures to come as The Dizzy Band’s plan to infiltrate the masses with their music begins to take hold.
